I know .edu's are only supposed to be given to schools, but how did Adison.edu manage to be acquired by one guy?

As we all know, it's not really a school.

There must be some connection with the school...?

If not, it should be reported, no?

I believe the guy was grandfathered in and now just sells blogs on it. It's in no way a real school now. Maybe in the very beginning though.

Yes, he sells blogs for $35 a month, but all of the ones I looked at had the Google PageRank grayed out. I just found a post under the freebie topic where he is giving blogs away in exchange for signature links here if you have over 100 posts.

If he has no official connection to the school, I would expect it to be reported and taken from him, as I think it should...

He either owned it before the extension was reserved for only schools or he bought it from someone who had it from before.

In no way should he have it taken away from him if the above is true (which it is, there's no other way to get one unless you run a school).

Well, the domain was registered in 1997. The mentioned rules were not introduced before 2001.

Can you explain why? There seems nothing to be wrong with the registration.

I don't think he would get in trouble. I believe he was grandfathered in and can do what he wants with it.
