Hi all.

Just a quick question. Does anyone know how long a push to another persons account at the same registrar normaly takes?

Just wondering since one I was involved in recently took like 4-5 days (inc. a weekend by all means) I was of the impression that it was supposed to be instant, but mayb it's not?

Just nice to know what's normal an what to expect the next time :)

Thanks guys.

Not sure if you knew this already, but since you're new here I'll elaborate a bit on the push process.

With some registrars you need to enter authorization codes, passwords, confirmation numbers, etc for the account push to be finalized.

If I wanted to push one of my domains at Godaddy to you in example, I would need to initiate the push and you would need to open the confirmation email and do as it says. For most registrars, this step involves logging into your account and either accepting the push or entering an authorization code and transaction number. Many registrars have different ways of doing pushes -- some actually require you to call them and speak to a customer service/account rep before initiating a push.

Once all conditions necessary for an account push to be accepted are satisfied, it is usually instant. At some registrars all account changes (including pushes) are verified manually (by someone working at the company), something else which could slow things down.

I prefer to stay with well known registrars like Godaddy, Moniker, and Dynadot to avoid these kind of situations where one isn't sure what to expect.

Nice job explaining Reece! I'll add that some registrars like Fabulous.com make it super easy. All you need is the recipient's username. You simply fill in the really quick form with the recipient's username and the domain you're pushing to them. Click send and the name is instantly transferred without any interaction from the recipient.

Like everyone said here already...instantly. However, some registrars might experience tech problems at that very moment which could cause a domain push delay up to an hour.

Also,I found NAME.com/DomainSite.com nicer,as they need account code other than user name, which is quite secure than just user name,I think & almost instantly.

Thanks for your answers and the explanations all :)

I finally got the domain into my account. It took something like 6-7 days (including a weekend) from when I was told it had been pushed. It came through quite quick after I sent a mail to the registrar (Moniker in this case) so I guess there might have been an unforseen problem. I never got any mails to confirm or anything like that.

The only bummer now is that I bought the domain on the base of around 4k visitors a month and so far in 4 days have had 2 :s But hey, I guess I learned to do better research and not trust presented stats as much in the future ;)

Again thanks all for your explanations and answers :)
