Hello I've never been in a bidding against someone, I did get some domains at tdnam, but no one wanted those domains, so I just won them.

But now it's different, and I'm really interested in this domain.

So I ask the domain pros

Is there a bidding strategy so I can win that domain? have someone won a domain at tdnam that want to share their technique?

I hope someone can help me with this, just 4 days left for me, I've just been outbid :(

Thanks in advace

tdnam extend the auction by 2 mins after every bid, so AFAIK, the only way to snipe an auction there is if the other bidders are not watching.

I have 2 strategies for winning auctions on tdnam, I'm not saying they're the best or only ways....

1)
Put in your max bid as your first bid. Hopefully anyone who bids after you will simply try a couple of minimum increments, get automatically outbid instantly, and give up.

2)
Wait until the final few seconds of the auction, keep bidding the min until you are the high bidder, and just hope the other bidders are not watching.

I havent been involved in bidding before.

But I know people hate this guy called Bonkers because he bids ridiculously high so no one else will get the name.

You could try that ;)

thanks for your comments

unfortunately, I backordered that domain, and when it expired for some reason their dns changed to goddady ones (really odd isn't? :P) so they bid for me $10, the amount I paid in the backorder was like $18, so this amount will be deducted if I decide to continue bidding.

I wish I could bid an insanely great amount, but it's just a hobby thing for now, so I don't have enough resources for it, I'll guess I'll pay as much as $60.

What do you think guys, do I have a chance?

er, without knowing the actual domain name, how can we possibly know if you have a chance of getting it for $60? (i'm NOT suggesting you post the name)

First and foremost, If a domain is registered at GoDaddy, dont backorder it. It will expired and makes its way to TDNAM.

I do an exceptional amount of buying on TDNAM (its my preffered market).

The trick is to find a domain and wait until the last minute. There are a few options, you may bid on that domain name within teh last couple moments and hope no one else bids against you...

ORRRRRR.... you can allow the auction to end- let the domain go to BIN (sometimes this works, sometimes it doesnt). This way you actually save $5 and you dont raise flags for other domain snipers.

BTW - I watch to see if any domains I hadnt noticed get bids on in the last few minutes... if I like em, I'll fight for them.

Good luck!

HAHA,

To be honest i hope if it was that name DS that he didn't spend more than $60 on it haha.

Oh well, only thing i can say is snipe it, yes it's a lame tactice but not alot of people sit and watch the bidding go so snipe it and again pry they aren't watching.

LOL!

it was iTycoon.com!!

I want it 'cause I'm a mac user, and I'm developing some mac related sites, so the "i" like in "iPod" and the tycoon really has to do with a group of "iSites"

LOL I was about to throw the towel when it reached 300, but got really into it, didn't want to lose

Well, you were bidding against me for a bit. But you made a terrible mistake bidding early on the domain...

To be honest, I was cursing you out a day or so ago. I had been watching the domain for about 10 days. Good luck and Congrats...

I know, I couldn't wait any more, I regret that for sure.

I'd been watching it for a few months now, since it was parked. Luckly I'll split the cost of this "adventure" with a friend, so I'll pay your highest bid in the end :)

I wish there was only us bidding, that extra 200 it's a lot of money, it'll be fun to find the third (and fourth?) bidder here also
