How does the transferproces actually work at tdnam after a succesfull sale?
Someone bought a domain of me in a seven day auction. I expected Tdnam to contact me and ask for the authorization code and that they would than handle the transfer but instead the buyer send his whois info and asked for a push to his gd account.
The domain is not at gd so do I now have to pay the transfers cost? It's a $xx sale so that wouldn't be too great. I expected Tdnam to charge the buyer the transfer costs. I know I have paid this as a buyer at Tdnam.

Hope someone with some more experience with tdnam can explain this for me

Unless you receive the info from TDNAM telling
you they are in receipt of the funds from the sale -
DO NOT TRANSFER THE DOMAIN!

After the buyer pays TDNAM you will get an email telling you
they have the funds and you can login and contact the buyer through
the steps provided....

There is a couple of threads, that you should maybe check out.

thnx for the warning. I didn't think it would be wise to start the transfer either so I emailed tdnam with the information the supposed buyer send. I will wait a couple of days to see if tdnam can verify that it's actually the buyer.

On the other question; am I supposed to pay the transfer from the other registrar to gd?

btw thnx for the link, pretty usefull info. I read some other post on the subject but couldn't find an answer to this question.

That I'm not sure on...I was lucky enough to have
buyers that had a Godaddy account.

I'll see what I can find out. Maybe someone who has
sold under these circumstances can shed some light
on the out of Godaddy transfer.

ok, found this:
After a domain name sale is completed, the seller must move the domain name to the new owner's account. Depending on where the new owner's account is, the seller moves the domain with a domain transfer or a change of account.

A domain transfer (also known as a "registrar transfer"), initiated by the new owner, moves the domain to an account with a third-party registrar. The transfer includes a one-year extension of the current registration period. For more information about initiating a domain transfer through your third-party registrar, contact your registrar.

A change of account (also known as a "change of ownership" or "registrant transfer"), initiated by the seller, moves the domain to another account with the same registrar. The domain expiration date does not change because a change of account does not include a registration extension. For more information about moving a sold domain, see Moving My Sold Domains.

thank you for being so helpful. Unfortunately the info at tdnam does not answer this question. I kinda already found that out myself.
So yeah, maybe someone who sold at tdnam but had the domain at another registrar can help.

Once again, thnx for the help, it's appreciated.

thnx, I hope so too. I'll just wait for some answers from tdnam or maybe someone here.
In the meanwhile I can't find his adress in google maps. His street seems to be located in the middle of Spain but the city at the mediterranian sea. Quite an impressive feat. G might be wrong of course but its getting a bit suspicious.

The whole tdnam selling process seems to be quite a hassle. As a buyer I had good experiences with them though.

One thing that has changed recently at TDNam is there is now a 5 day delay between the time the buyer pays for a domain and the date that the seller is given authorization to transfer the domain. This is because TDNam has been hit by fraudulent buyers lately. So don't do anything as far as transferring the name until you get the second e-mail which confirms that its OK to transfer the domain.

And if you are at all suspicious about the buyer you can e-mail GoDaddy support to have them double-check as to whether the buyer is legit.

As far as who pays for the transfer to GoDaddy - its the buyer who pays. I tell buyers that they have an option of a free push at the existing registrar or they can initiate a transfer at GoDaddy.

thats some good advice. I will wait for a bit then and if everything turns out to be okay I will present the buyer with those options.

thnx m8
