Hey everyone..I recently purchased a few expired domains which I thought had PR's..I used this site to verify:
http://livepr.raketforskning.com/

when I put in just the domain.TLD I got 0's..but when i typed in www.domain.TLD it showed their Pagerank..But then someone told me my site's have fake PR? How can this be? What can I do in the future to make sure the expired domains I am buying have true PR? Thanks!

its because people type in www.domain.tld

or it is linked that way to your site...

doesnt mean its fake :)

Didn't I answer that question for you like 4 or 5 months ago?

If the links go to the www rather than the non-www then the www gets the PR (or vice-versa). You can forward the non-www to the www using .htaccess and mod rewrite.

It's the same method as when you fake PR, although it's not actually considered "faking PR" when you point the non-www to the www (or vice-versa).

I believe I offered to help you make a .htaccess file before to fix it.... the offer still stands! :)

Sending PM in a few minutes...

Yes you did, and you sent me the .htaccess in the email -
but remember my hard drive crashed like 1 day later and
I had to replace it. (of course I had no backup) so I lost everything.
I had forgotten about it till I saw this thread...lol
But thanks again B33R I have redone it correctly (I hope) this time!
repped :)

Thanks for the useful link, rep added.

Their full-page pagerank check tool is cool, I have one site with PR 4, but I didn't realize that most of my category pages had a rank of 3! That explains why a lot of users are landing on those (also the keywords obviously).

My site only has pagerank for the non-www address, although I use a mod rewrite redirect so both www and non-www work. Doesn't matter I guess, I just hope most folks link without the "www"
