How to make money with hyphenated domains?

I've been finding some decent two-word generic dotcoms with a hyphen. For example, I recently picked up corrugated[hyphen]box[dot]com.

From what I understand the hyphen won't hurt and sometimes helps seo and serp placement. So if there is good search (and good CPC and good Ad Comp) for the keyword phrase (without hyphen) the hyphen version should make some decent revenue...

I'm wondering if anybody with experience with hyphen domains can comment on this. How well do hyphen domains perform compared to the same keyword phrase w/out the hyphen? What's the best or most cost-effective way to monetize them? Mini-sites? Whypark? Other?

Parking, content, mini-sites ... getting something at least started for the SE's, as that's where the commonly shared belief in its value resides, IMHO. :gl:
Development, of course, would be the next step ... :talk:

Best of Luck.

Hyphenated domains - assuming they are highly generic keywords with hyphens actually seperating words (as opposed to a prefix or other part of a word) may be the most underrated names in the market. With minimal development they can get excellent traffic and revenue, and while quick flips to domainers may be difficult, there are developers who are very astute to their potential. WP or minisites or blogs, etc. can all do very well.

That's the impression I've been getting. May be time to open a WP account and see how they do.

Anyone else have any experience monetizing hyphen domains? What works best for you?

With my experience, development is the best way to monetize hyphened domains. Of course, I can say that about ALL domains, but specifically for hyphenated domains where they won't normally pickup the type-in traffic of the non-hyphenated domain.

Definitely not scared to pick up any hyphenated names--but they get thrown into the "development" basket for quite some time.
