How to close a Dreamhost account?

I used Dreamhost "My Happy Hosting" for a year without notable problem , i paid for 1 year and after 11 month I moved all my sites to other hostings and i closed my Dreamhost account, but i dind't move the free domain name that actually was parked with sedo.

Now I got mails asking me to close my account (I already did) and asking me to pay $9.95 for the "free" domain I regged with them.

Is it just a billing error or what?

Have you done the cancellation through the proper channel as specified in their TOS. So it is better to clarify with them what the real issue is. How can they ask you to pay for the free domain.
