Request for Proposals (RFP) Process

The Request for Proposals (RFP) process commences on 6 November 2006. The .mobi domain names to be offered through the initial RFP process are:

news.mobi
ringtones.mobi
sports.mobi
weather.mobi

To apply, please download our application. Applications are due by 16 February 2007.

All process questions are to be received by February 2 2007.

dotMobi will review the submitted proposals per the evaluation criteria included in the application and will announce winning proposals March 2007.

The RFP process was approved by ICANN and was developed in collaboration with our Policy Advisory Board. It provides an opportunity to develop critical mobile user content in order to promote the adoption and use of the .mobi domain.

news.mobi imho is $500k however I won't be suprised if it hits 2 million.

News.mobi is a nearly perfect domain for the extension. It's like they were made for each other. However this doesn't really mean too much to the average .mobi owner. Oddly flowers.mobi sold for $200k and immediately people ran out to buy keywordflowers.mobi which imho is a ridiculous move.

Whitebark btw has a perfect right to express his opinion in a forum thread where opinions are asked for. Obviously if you don't like or agree with his opinion you should argue back an opinion..not argue that he doesn't deserve to have one. That makes me think you aren't able to counter his claims which often make perfectly fine sense.

I am seeing more and more experienced domainers voicing their negative outlook for the extension and more and more newcomers think they have hopped onto the next bandwagon. Prepare yourself when the wagon falls over the cliff my friends.

It is really hard to say since we don't know who actually bids for it. I am guessing between $300k - $400K. I hope for a good price - I've got STIRI.MOBI which is the romanian version of news.mobi :)

I like your saying, weighing the monies! cool!

BocaVision said:
Freescaleman, am I correctly translating your riddle (post)?

Translation: Companies are attaching checks :$: to their .mobi RFP's. In turn, the .mobi registry will weigh the money & the plans and determine who will own the premium .mobi domains.

Weigh the most money, i like that idea, they has to be allot of runners for these .mobis:

news, ringtones,

I believe and hold my breadth, worse case its will sell for 2 million!!!

Lets just lie low, and look concentrate on life with misery, because .mobi hasn't had any promotion or default status from mobile phone companies so far, be wise, critisiscm is good, i get knerves when these guys say: .mobi is useless, a waste of time, the corporates wont use it, etc.

So lets enjoy the critics!!

But thats because i like many of the folk on this forum have pucrhaed many .mobi's for development mostly.

And if parties approach you for a sale then you sell at a competitive price, but not just yet.

Aurevouir,

Jam

Please could someone who knows this site get Namespro admin to create a room/section for daily, weekly news from various media on .mobi , with urls submitted by members that would be so good for us .mobi people, and for others whom are interested, as .mobi news is disbursed at the moment on this website, agreed?

This is just to keep up with the interest generated around the globe through all the magazines and websites and newscasts etc. Neil Edwards has been on:CNBC so far, etc but we want to here from others, communication companies etc,

Whats going to happen to the rest of those premium reserved domains, the ones that are in that excel file?

There are thousands.

.mobi ceo Neil Edwards needs to make some serious headway with the carriers: Nokia, Erricson, etc

Lets enjoy the critics its good, turn the negative into a positive, Otherwise we would be building castles in the air, right?

Common sense tells us many things: .mobi has deisgned stds for websites no one has done that for mobile content right!

Also i get a stinking feeling following the sales of news.mobi , ringyones.mobi,weather.mobi and sports.mobi will be publicised and we will see public interest generated.

Also At the moment allot of the .mobi sites enterd under iexploerer divert/ point to their .com sites.

I find this interesting, lol , as yahoo.mobi doesnt , and www.msn.mobi points to:
http://mobile.msn.com/

also:
www.google.mobi points to: http://www.google.com/mobile/

Google have the highest .mobi std rating at 5/5

Something for you geeks to amuse yourselves with:
http://www.pinky.mobi/

http://www.neil.mobi/
(is this neil edwards?)

http://www.flowers.mobi/
(nice simple site, i give it 8/10)

www.fun.mobi
sold at 100k if you recall traffic east auction
hasnt been developed yet!

I will follow this thread with another one under .mobi , in which i will post various links, it will be titled ".mobi news gathered so far from my web research"

First, let me say that I do not own one single 'flower' .mobi :)
I DO, however, have Business101.mobi LOL

Labrocca, you and I have had a round with this, and I think that we have come out of this ok.

I really think that since we are all domainers, we are all speculators, we are all gamblers and risk-takers... some of us (myself included now and then) feel almost betrayed (if you will) by the sharp words and almost out right attacks by some who are not fans of this ext.

I think, if we all keep our heads about it, the pros and cons could be hashed out in a more productive way. If the domainers who dont care for .mobi would tone down their opposition and reamin facutal with no grand gestures and the pro mobis did the same, we could actually get along in here.

I see some".mobi is gonna fail" and " .mobi is gonna be king" posts.. I honestly feel both are a little off-mark this early in the game.

I do think that .mobi is going to be a healthy ext only because of the way its been embraced (so far) by most of the domain market, but I do NOT think its the next .com. :imho:

None of us know what the mtld is planning, and that goes for pro and con mobi domainers. So, instead of lashing out at each other, lets just take it for what it is at this point, which is a very nice new ext wioth lots of promise and potential.

'Can't we all just get along?' :hehe:

News.mobi... I think it will hit the 1mil mark. CNN, CBS, NBC, MSNBC.. they will all want it.
