Alright,

One of my offline friends says that music is his whole life. That got me thinking if it was a) Some sort of powerful feeling towards music. b) He has no life. c) Something that we all share?

I posted something on my schools forum the other week saying how much I like the music I listen too and when peope repsons saying "Yeah well you listen to crap!" it's funny how much you actually defend music.

I personally can't live without it, it's practically built-in to me that I HAVE to listen to music while I design/code or do anything on the PC at all. I also have to listen to music while in the car, airplane, school, EVERYWHERE! If you ever see me you'll always see me with my iPod earphones either in 1 ear or just hanging over my shirt...seriously I love music but I wouldn't say it's my life though...

What do you think?

I have listened overall to the same style of music for about 17 years (i am 28). I very rarely go anywhere without my mp3 player.

I know what you mean about people defending their music to the hilt, I do this and always have done. People are very protective over their musical choice. I have faced a lot of criticisms over my choice of music as I am a heavy metal fan (some of the bands I like are Deicide, Bolt Thrower, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth etc). People tend to criticize this style of music without ever having listened to it before. In fact a lot of the time when I manage to talk someone into actually listening to it for a couple of minutes they usually come out with a statement like it was good until the singing started (I must admit the singing style is an acquired taste with a lot of the bands I listen too).

I wouldn't say I am as die hard now as I was when I was say 16 years old but I still love my music.

I love my metal. it was weird because when i went to my new school everyone was into metal and we actually played a lot of it in class, my mum listens to some of the stuff i like (different genres) so sometimes i can get it loud. stuff like love metal :)
love my heavy metal though :)!

Music is a good inspiration for making creative things such art, poetry, or when engaging romance. Jimi Hendrix, Miles Davis, Coltrane, Tupac, etc, etc. Without music, life would be boring.

When I was at school there were a core set of people who liked metal but it was in the minority. But you could usually tell what bands people listened too, it was usually GNR, Metallica and Megadeth (it was of course before the days of Sliknot, System Of A Down etc) very rarely did anyone listen to anything a bit grittier.

Back in the mid to early 90's they were 1 of the bands you almost had to listen too. I personally at the time loved the Youthanasia album (released in 1994).

A lot of people either loved Megadeth or loved Metallica (if you know anything of Metallica history you will know why a split occurred and you like 1 or the other).

I took a quick listen too Parkway Drive, they seem not bad.

Heh sweet. I'm also into the metal/heavy metal genre and my mum loves a lot of the stuff. Shes a huge Iron Maiden and Rush fan (although Rush are the furthest from metal!).

Shameless promoting of Hammerfall and Iron Maidend may follow....

Nah I definately love my music and tend to have it playing at all times. It actually keeps me focused when doing very mundane things. I like to mess around with playing guitar/bass and not the same styles that I listen to. The world would suck if it was on mute, thats all I can say.
