How much do you spend on 'personal/collection' domains?

Like all of us on here, I have some 'personal' domains in my collection. Meaning domains that I think are cool, have personal meaning or otherwise keep just for my personal collection. Domains that I don't make money off of and don't plan on selling.

So out of curiosity, how much do you spend each year...or how many domains in total do you have that you would consider part of your 'personal collection'...domains you keep without making money on them and without expecting to sell them?

None at all... my pockets are too tight and shallow for "hobby" domains

The only time I'll have a domain like this is if I get the inclination to develop it. I'll never buy a domain just to have it, I always have a plan to monetize it. If I become attached to a name that I have a perfect idea for then I'll try to execute the idea myself, otherwise I'm trying to sell it or I don't bother buying it

I am probably spending about $150/year on domains like family names etc. I hardly use them but I still think they are strategic personal assets. There also a few domains I use for my personal E-mail. They are important to me but not very valuable.
I don't think we should be collecting domains. Try to use them whenever possible. That's what they are for.

I had one collection domain but sold it to be free from that attachment. I have two more I won't sell, but those arn't just for collection but both are for my future business/projects. So I guess I no longer have a hobby domain. So cost was low xxx from that one..

I spend about $100 in renewals on such domains, and acquisition costs have been less than $1000. Mostly personal names.

Till now about 3-5% of my regs are just to keep it to myself, for my personal collection, i dont use them in any way, but i still like to keep those domains.

Interesting. Out of curiosity, what made you decide to buy your brothers name? I assume he is either too young to buy it himself or isn't into domains so you bought it for him?

Thats right...he isn't earning at the moment..so I reserved it for him.

His name was registered by someone else, but it dropped and I had my eyes on it..so I grabbed it
