Unstoppable Domains โ€” Expired Auctions

How many of you actually have contacted an enduser with a sale done or pending...

On this Forum many experienced domainers state that contacting an end user is a good way to sell those hard to sell but thoughtful domains. Has anyone had luck doing this.

I know most of us sell through auctions or get offers from parked domains but whats the deal with enduser contact and is it worth the time and effort to contact x number of endusers to sell one or two domains?

thanks,

I was contacted by phone and sold one for xx,xxx.
I sold another for $250 to through sedo, it was a realestate company, didn't learn that until after it sold though.
Endusers come to you.

I haven't contacted any for quiet some time - But do make sales to a few that approach me.

Is it worth your time to contact them ? Yes , If you do so as Professionally as possible. Make sure your domain(s) actually make sense to them (Explain Why) and would be useful to them (Explain Why). Don't waste their time ;)
Also - I doubt I'll use email any longer If I do contact companies/individuals. It's been done to Death and most just consider it Spam now.

Use a Phone or Snail Mail on REAL letterhead.

IYO do you think it was worth it? do you still do it?
Sure. That .com dropped and after a bit of research I found his blog (.org) is sort of popular. I regged that .com and tested the traffic and PPC but it sucked so I contacted him for a potential sale. It was still a $43.05 return with minimal ppc revenues then why not.
Yes, I am still doing that. But now I only focus on business sites. No personal sites anymore. :!:
And I agree with others: if your names are good, they will find you. But you will lose nothing (or gain more) by being more active.

End user approaches with resulting sales can be very successful if approached in the right way and I have many successfully under my belt.

I am not saying that mine is the right way. Just the way that works for me.

You have a name that for whatever reason does not fit with your portfolio at this time. It can be many things.

You do not want to develop this name
You would love to develop but do not have the technical resources available
Be honest with yourself your a domainer you buy to sell or have some to sell
You need to liquidate some domain assets due to renewals pending or whatever

Alot of what I am going to suggest is contingent somewhat on the domain in question )that you wish to promote for the said end user.
(if it is rubbish then the metrics suggested will highlight that for you - sorry but its true )

I sideline 1% of our portfolio to target end users ... these names were bought on the drop or for even some hand reg for their yeild potential for that reason .. it services the ex' es , renewals hosting , development etc of our primary assets that are monetized and delivering revenue.

You have the name you think its good want to find an end user .. I recommend this

1.Google it !!! " my domain name words " without the extension so if it is a 2 or even three worder " word word word "
- What are the results like? high nos? check out the first few pages

2 check out who is bidding on that term .. look at the top two results the sponsored ones ( paying we want this traffic buyers) and down the right hand side listing of sponsored links .. who are they ? look at their sites? do they rank for that key term .. check first 5 pages result again

3. check out the overture keyword search results for your domain " keyword, keyword + keyword if 3 words " is it searched on? the more the better what results? higher for the term .. = better ! the higher chance of enticing said end user

4 .. check out your term on overture keyword bid tool .. apologies but I do not know why our uk one here work fine .. But i am lead to understand that it has been disabled elsewhere. For me .. I can see that x end user is paying x for said term I know the ovt of that term ( so just 25% of traffic with site development will deliver them ยฃยฃยฃ .. so this name with site optimisation , its keyword rich , can deliver them a roi ( return on investment to OWN it ) if it is a high ovt term and they are paying to buy the traffic .. you are onto a winner

I never just email an are you interested I research and find " the head honcho " marketing director , ceo etc .. pick up the phone and call .. and this is v v successful. I have this name .. you bid on this term .. it costs you xxxxx its higly searched on if you owned it and developed the site and content and converted traffic just a quarter of the raw searches .. how valuable would that be? the answer is always very!

I do target high ppc and high ovt ... happy to share that the metrics stack up .. just my names just our method ... If you find this info useful give it a try!

to summise ..

check ovt
check ppc paid
check the site positioning of your potential end user
