I have just opened an account at POOL.COM. There was written:
Backorder as many domains as you like for FREE. There is no charge for backordering a deleting domain. You pay only when we successfully secure a domain for you.

Ok, so I backordered one domain there. Later I have checked my credit card history and I was surprised to see that they actually charged my credit card ($60) even if they claim that backordering is free.

Am I missing something here?

Well, if you got charged for $60, then apparently you successfully backordered one of the names they backordered there.

You can backorder for free at first, but if they actually successfully catch it, you get charged $60.

So right now you should have a domain in your account there.

Thanks for your reply, but no, I still don't have the domain. Now I know why my credit card was charged. "Pre-authorization charge".

What is a Pre-authorization?
The $60 pre-authorization charge is held in most credit card accounts for approximately 72 hours, and is then released but the length of time the pre-authorization charge is held for can vary between credit card companies.

Anyway, I think they are misleading new customers - even if it's "Pre-authorization charge", it doesn't mean that "There is no charge [...]" as they claim.
But not a big deal, it's just 60$ ant it will come back if my backorder will be unsuccessful.

Next time I will read FAQ before backordering, but this time I was so in rush, I wanted to get one nice domain name, so I was just backordering it in almost every site I found :)
