How does punycode work with search engines?

I want to register a keyword domain in a different language. The keyword phrase has high e/GSMV and the .com is available. I know that the people in this country have foreign language keyboards so they are actually typing this exact phrase.

But will this keyword phrase rank in search engines or will it get ruined by punycode? Or will search engines recognize the actual words but still display the punycode in the result page?

I am not sure about it: anyway: Is there a google site [localized] available ?

For example: for UK, google.co.uk is available: just like that, there are other google sites and some use country specific language. If this country have a localized google site and that it uses that other language, then may be you will not have the punycode problem.
