How do you handle deadbeats?

I have had a number of "buyers" post "sold" to some of my offered listings and got the silent treatment when told how to make payment.

I don't want to be the bad guy by giving them a bad rep - at least not the first time.

What do you do in such a case ?

You're not being a bad guy by giving them a bad rep at all. If they don't pay, they're being the bad guy, and their reputation DESERVES tarnishing. They're not stellar members, so why lead others on to think that they are by giving good feedback?

I'd try to Contact them at least twice allowing 24-48 hrs to pass before reporting them to the mods - If the mods aren't informed of these things .... they can't keep up with all possible Problems out there -

I probably wouldn't leave negative feedback/reputation unless it is a second offense - Things do happen sometimes beyond Peoples control (As long as you require payment in advance - You lose only your time this way)

I usually allow 24 hours and then ask on the second request to let me know if they are no longer interested - and that's OK by me because sometimes you have a change of heart or circumstances.

I have no problem with, but I burn when there is NO response.

In the mean time, the name in question is marked as pending or sold which prevents others from making offers.

You post sold and don't answer you deserve bad rep and feedback...very bad business

follow with PM or two emails stating that he/she has 24/48 hours to pay or a bad rating will follow.

You need to follow the rules to keep bad boy/girl out of the community!

I had such an experience too...And it really ticks me off as well. But guess what, if you leave them a bad feedback because of non-paying sales, they might do the same to you too! You know...some bad buyers are simply unreasonable. They don't even bother to reply to you or anything. Give them 48hrs with 1 or 2 notices, if they did not respond, just post the domains back on sale. If someone came and buy your domain and that non-paying buyer confronted you about it, just tell him/her be glad that you did not even leave him/her a bad feedback for not paying. And of course, DO post in the public the non-paying buyer's username stating clearly he/she refuse to pay for the domain. I think that's fair and also, protect you from having unjustified ratings.

Out them, pure and simple. Would you want another domainer to encounter the same thing or worse? If they give you a negative rating, alert the mods with a detailed explanation and I'm sure they'll delete the rating.

My latest encounter was a PM to buy several names and no response - this was 3 days ago. However, it was not in this forum and I suspect the guilty party may have already been banned here.

So I won't mention any names this time.
