How do you get a great Internet idea off the ground?

Hello All,

I'd like your educated opinions, please!.

One morning you wake up with an idea for a site that you know could - and would be - one of the great internet successes ever. (We're talking ebay, betfair, etc).

Alas, the most money that you can raise to finance this sure fire winner is a maximum of $60,000.

The first thing that you think is, "My God, what can I do?: I haven't the know how - or the money"!

Just how much money would you need?
I've heard such varying estimates, the mind boggles!

I'd like to know what you think!

Oh, remember to add your bit about finding reputable investor/partner and ways of protecting your idea.
(You do of course, have a great domain name for this site).

$60,000 is more than enough to start anything. Depending on your idea the most important thing is the media. Make sure to hire a good Public Relations specialist to get the word out.

As far as protecting your idea, have anyone involved sign a non-disclosure agreement. Maybe even a simple hand written contract agreeing that the intellectual property is owned by you and not allowed to be conveyed without your written authority/consent.

True you can get an awsome site going for that money

But the key is having your advertising buget produce enough money so you can keep increasing your advertizing budget to the point your doing major TV comercials. Thats the only way you can get to "ebay" huge

Its more than the idea now, you have to get on the moutain and scream it to the world, and thats where 60k isnt that much unless it can start churning out $$ right away.
