How do you accurately value a domain name ? How do you analyze the hits and clicks ? Basically, how do you figure it all out per say ?

All comments and opinions are welcome.

Thanks

i believe that most people have different approaches but work along the same keyfactors. For me the these factors are:

for domains without content or development:

extension
name/length
sound/ ease of branding
possible positioning in the market/ product driven?
OVT & Alexa & Google Results
Parking Revenue
of course there is more, but thats top secret *shhh* ;)

for domains with content:
all the above plus,
traffic
revenue
adsense
SEO optimization
content itself
affiliate or self driven page
...and so forth.

you will get to develope your own "formula" over time, most of us are head-on with evals, so stick with NP, i've learned a ton from here, and brought my education+experience back to the board, which is basically what everyone else does here, making NP a tremendously strong board. :imho: better than any other domainer board out there in the WildWildWest.

for a start ignore those who post the statement 'it is worth what someone will pay for it' ... this is certainly no business model. However fully accurate valuation is not 100% possible. It is more like an art auction where the auctioneer will provide a valuation spread and the figure realised may go above/below that spread value and the item may not even realise its reserve. It is the spread value and reserve price you should be looking for and that requires knowledge and experience as opposed to the auto evaluations. If this too much of a mountain then confine yourself to eg 3L.coms which lend themselves better to algorithmic calculations.

:bingo:

To add in my .02, w/o taking the cliche "whatever someone is willing to pay" route: Every buyer and every seller is looking for different things. When I buy, I don't give a damn about PR or backlinks; I don't even ask. Why? Because it's not something I deal with, so it's not something I'm willing to pay more for. However, some of the SEO folks really care about backlinks, and will pay a premium for domains that are old with some solid backlinks. So, any model created would over/undervalue the same domain based on who the target audience was.

as long as you profit, the price is accurate

it is like finding your spouse, there are some common factors, but at the end, it
is how do you feel about it.

I do say this so... ignore me ?

I Actually think this maybe a good quote :)... it takes a domainer a while to learn the fact of ......please rate my name.....

It IS basically what the end buyer is willing to pay one mans gold and all

Interesting comment will watch :)
