VR.porn and VR.sex sold for $100k each back in late 2015.
Next one will probably happen this year, idk if will be announced publicly though.
Ya know, I did forget about those.
Probably because I discount many of those gTLD sales as
over speculation of investors. Because we have never seen a 'end user sale of gTLD's like that' to date to my knowledge.
Imagine what ROI you need to make that worth your while for risk. Time will tell I guess.
Mobile.me is a cctld and gtld's were not around then. And if anything, it has provided a means to take some 'punch' away from .com's as a alternative to the 'particular keywords'.
The market has to be very robust to achieve a better 6 figure .com sales with some track record numbers we do not have yet. Being search volume numbers and keyword advertising bids. IMHO It may take 2-5 years before we see a better 6 figure sales and I believe when those holders get a offer from investors at that 50k level, it will begin to weigh on them. Most of the current end-users have no need for the names and it will be some time before start-ups will find advantage of and be wealthy enough to afford such a thing.
About the only numbers we have now show the fact there are not enough VR/AR consumers yet.
And there may not be enough content for them. Probably make major headway on that over the next year.
Having Hand Reg'd 90% of my VR/AR names over 10 years and most all my drops/aftermarket buys have been achieved under $1k, I'm not sure I would wait the long term if a offer of that level would present itself.
You need to be greedy but I have my limits. I find a +1000x ROI very very attractive.
I'm not scared to leave money on the table. I do have other names of value. And not many of them would fit that cat killer variety.
A bird in the hand...
