Hi

I will try and explain this as best i can,

Ok i type in a domain in alexa which has expired, the traffic that comes up is for another domain like this for example

I want traffic for expired domain

12345.com

I goto alexa and it shows say alexa of 142,000 but the domain name it shows up is say

fhsdkfhsdkf.com

I am wondering was the expired domain pointing to the second domain and is there away to check the whois of the 12345.com (Example) and would it be likely to get any traffic

Here is real example

zillernet.com available

alexa is

http://www.alexa.com/data/details?amzn_id=wehavethem-20&url=zillernet.com

but is for ziller.co.nr

Any help would be good on these types of expired domains

Thanks

I have seen what you describe when the domains are "parked" together, or if two sites are using a shared hosting web server.

Even if you don't see this problem, Alexa is not a good tool to determine what the traffic will be for any domain, especially one that has expired. Alexa only shows traffic from Alexa users and if someone with the Alexa toolbar loaded goes to the site over and over again it can raise the traffic score after a while. On the other hand Alexa generally shows you much less than what the traffic really is.

And any domain that has expired is going to start losing links and traffic, so when you get the domain you may not get much benefit from anything the domain used to have.

I would start with https://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/ and see if the domain has any links to it. If it does, then you can assume that the more links it has, the more traffic it will be getting (for now). In the case of zillernet.com there don't seem to be any links to it.

Just send Alexa a message about once a month and keep after them, but not more than that. In the past they have been very, very slow to respond, but after a long time they should get things fixed.
