I forget how you do it, but 1and1 charges you to do pushes, even from one package or user within 1and1... $5.99. If I were you, I'd move every domain you have off 1and1 to another registrar.. they are nothing but trouble.

I don't believe they do charge for transfers, but best to check with their support.. IF you can get them to answer. Calling their 800 number is best.

The worst thing about their support is rarely do they ever actually answer the question you asked or answer it correctly.

sideways push is charged as pointed out above @ $5.99.
Transfer out is difficult but can be done after sending multiple emails.
However, even after the domain is transferred to another registrar, 1+1 will still charge you if the name remains in your admin area.
Note: ignore any contributions to this thread that say 'I don't have any problems with 1+1' None of the contributors will have tried to transfer out a domain or cancel a contract.

Hi Guys:

I have to beg to differ on this one: I have over 2000 names in three accounts at 1and1, and while it's not the best, the support line is 800, 24x7, and if the kid can't handle it, you can easily rise up to a real IT guy.

all the best,

Andrew

Point is: you shouldn't have to "rise up to a real IT guy" as you put it.. I repeat, I have had nothing but trouble with them invoicing me for deleted or cancelled domains and the like. I shouldn't have to take the time to call.. why have email support?

I've never had any problems with 1&1, but am trying to transfer out about a dozen domain names right now (started the process yesterday). Having seen this thread, I'm concerned...

1and1 is awful...

Good luck with this:

I just went through a push out of 1and1...here is the scoop.

go to cancel.1and1.com and put in a cancellation on the domain name and be sure to select the option of transfer where asked.

They will email you a form that you then have to fill out and fax back to them.

They will send you a confirmation email of that cancellation.

Your new host or the buyers new host will send a notification after a transfer is requested from whereever and a notice will be sent to the registered owner of that domain name.

The registered owner must either forward the information on that email to the buyer or process it at the new host.

I hope this helps.

1and1 sucks so bad it makes me...((I just threw up a little in my mouth))...makes me mad.

the latest on my cancellation of my final domain with 1+1 is that acknowledgement of the sent cancellation fax has not been received and the domain is still there in the management area. I will have to send yet another copy of the fax. Watch this space.

So that means they are cheap for a reason.
I don't know why people doing frequent domain business are still using that.

Transfer went through today. Seemed a little slow, but no real problems. I'm still happy with 1&1's service (just not with their domain prices).
