Ive been experimenting with selling names on Flippa lately.

I hand reged a good name. It targeted an industry, had 18,000 monthly traffic and high EPC.

I dont understand why Im not getting bids. The only difference between names I see selling and mine is the age.

Flippa has it in big BOLD words the age of the domain RIGHT next to the listing.

It says...AGE 2 days, Domain.com

Is this why Im not getting bids? Is the age THAT much of a factor? Maybe people are thinking to heck with that guy, he just paid 10.00 for that and he wants me to pay more?

I cant think of another reason.

I started the bid out at 1.00 no reserve.

Maybe Im just not getting enough traffic. I only did the regular 9.00 listing and Have had 20 hits but not a single watcher.

To get good results, you still have to promote your listing through social media, word of mouth, or contacts. From my limited experience so far with domains so far, like selling everything else, I've realised that you need to do some marketing in order to get the word out.

I don't think age plays a huge role.. Lots of people these days know a good domain when they see one. It could prevent the price from getting too big, but 20 views is nothing. I'd expect plenty more before you start seeing watchers and bids come in. As mentioned above, promote your auction! Post it on Twitter with hashtags, put a link to it in your signature here on the forums, post it in the "External Auctions" area of this forum..

It's true that a standard domain listing won't get as much exposure as a standard website listing. At least, this is what I've found in the past. If you really wanna get maximum bids and exposure on Flippa then you really need to cave and buy the biggest promotional package. If your domain really is decent you'll make that amount back easily.

I'm hopefully going to win a 2 month old domain on flippa this week. If it's a good domain, that age won't deter buyers.

Age does not matter too much. For example, area.info was listed (not by me :)) on Flippa within a few days after it was drop-catched, and sold for several thousands.

P.S. I myself listed snapback.info on Flippa, on the next day after regging it, and sold it for $65.

$9 Listing wont be helpful for getting views, may be not even 60 views in 30 days normally.
If your domain really is an exact match dot com, nice & brandable then there are high chances to get bids on premium marketing, normally it works, but dont take it as a thumb rule.
About Age, dont worry about it that much. Write a good sales page, description about your domain & mention all the business possibilities for the probable buyer of your domain.

Age doesn't matter, marketing does...even if we have good domain names, they get lost in the ocean of standard listed domains on Flippa...so as @IntricateWare said, we need to promote them..
