Hello, to my old .tv friends and to any new .tv friends. I am curious if anyone has sold a .tv domain name that ended up with Google as the new owner?

Thanks,
Vito

Google is also a registrar that provides free private registration. It could still show Google without the name being owned by them, although I assume they differentiate between their own and privacy service.

Very interesting. I guess i would need to differentiate between G as the owner and between just anyone using their registrar.
Thanks for your input Recons.com
So let me add another question here then.
Does anyone know of any .tv domain names currently being used by G?

A reverse Whois of Google.com ([email protected]) shows they hold 56 .TV domains - probably just trademark protection domains. Of about 17 thousand domains they also hold...

.mobi 102
.info 536
.xyz 15
.club 8
.link 8
.cars 14
.biz 185
.org 1629
.net 1780

It's a helpful list. So we can clearly see what's worth anything. net, org, info, biz, mobi, TV, xyz, cars!

Hey Cate,

No, I have not.

I am very curious because I have had an aggressive inquiry from some knucklehead whose IP is located in the area where G is located. Also it says G on the whois for the dot com of the same domain. But I gave them such a great mid $X,XXX price and there is too much haggling which then lead me to ask this question.

I have had a middleman from a Monster Media Company grab a high priced domain from me before and I get that. But would the big G seriously send a middleman to grab a domain for them and really give a $hit about a few dollars on such a low priced domain? I doubt it. So now that I know G is a domain registrar and that is why their name appears on the whois, that narrows it down to about any of the 7.4 billion people here in this world. lol

They would. Leonard is right - they are dns-admin and usually with markmonitor.

Hey Leonard, Thanks for the info. Is there a way to find out which 56 dot tvs that G owns?

Not so much selling, but a person here at NP once really helped me get a name I had been trying for ages to acquire.

In return I gave them something that I thought was just as valuable - at lest it was to me - and a name I really, really liked

ALPHABET.tv

I believe it went on to different, but not better owners later on.

happiness circle complete.

Don't get too carried away. Google might just try to bump up domains like mobi to make some sales as a registrar. ;)

Edit: I just used .mobi as a random example lol. I'm not making a judgement or statement on that TLD.
