.tv Google TV/end users/brand awareness for .tv

Because of Google TV, I have had many friends who are non-domainers and family members keep telling me I am going to be rich because of Google TV and that I own .tv. It's funny they never said that before they heard of Google TV.
They thought I was a sucker How things can turn real fast and I think we can all really capitalize on this with .tv.

What this means, is that end-users are thinking that if Google TV is coming out than .tv must be where it's at. I am seeing this. It does not matter if google promotes this through Google.tv or not, it's creating huge branding for the .tv

My favorite is England.tv and Vito.tv, they are owned by some cool dudes I hear I like the direction .tv is going and I am known to be a visionary to everybody except snoop and my wife (lol)

The wife is always right, at least you HAVE to tell her that or she will take half your domains!!!


BTW, I have a crystal ball, and as I look into it, It shows me that anyone owning any Dot TV Domain Names will be very very wealthy and extremely happy and healthy by June of 2011.

I'm thinking about buying a house in every neighborhood, next to all my NP friends here, but I believe buying one near you Jim will have to be my first investment.

Elsewhere on the forum someone mentioned that .COM registration growth has proceeded as follows:

March 2006 50 million
March 2008 75 million
March 2009 80 million (despite stock market & real estate price downfall)
Sept 2010 90 million

.COM registrations are at a point the only way to obtain a decent domain is to go to the aftermarket. SEDO has reported growth in the number of .COM domain sales over the last few years but domain sales relative to total listings is still very small. "End users" are often registering poor-quality or brandable domains to avoid the aftermarket or perhaps are unaware of it. There needs to be more acceptance of spending money for a good keyword domain before .TV sales will mushroom.

ex: I was checking where my PembrokePines site ranked a couple of weeks ago and some real estate site was advertising with Adwords on

For years I've asked non-domainers simple and innocuous questions about domains. (I'm always interested in the customers experience.) The quick conversation basically tests their knowledge of domain suffixes and lets me know what part of our "domainer universe" actually leaks out to the general public.

What I've found isn't necessarily surprising - but it kept me from making stupid assumptions about domain names.

.com / .net / .org - check!
.gov / .edu / - check!
.tv - check!
.mil - marginal
.us - marginal
.info / .biz - marginal to "what?"
.me / .mobi / .name / .tel - "what?"
.aero / .asia / .coop / .museum / .travel - "quit making stuff up!"

.TV has always been a recognized suffix. You can see how the other responses have guided my activities.

MY reason to jump here and get started in .TV

1.TV is universally know thing, and easy brand to get on

2.TV still in a shadow with very cheap keywords to be bought

3.TV have the ability to distinct itself from the crowded extensions as a globally recognized ext like .COM

4. The new domainers would be more on developing, which could make .TV more end user friendly than the millions parked .COM

5. TV might be the sole economic value to TUVALU, so .TV holders need not to worry something bad will happen as what happened at .LY even if the Island sink.

6. Tvers are a special creature who knows what they are doing..... you'll are very professional indeed.

7. TV is slow and steady...which means its not Monopolized by few people who hold the bulk of it, this leaves room for more developed domain than parked.

8. This is the rule, .COM could not always the King, everything has its peak.....TV will have its day

9. TV is unique by itself

I dunno... but there is an axiom in the marketing world that "perception IS reality" and that's what I'm running with.

I do not care about semantics here, we're pushing a product like the "mad men" and it seems to be working on a daily basis, as the sale prices on the extension seem to be escalating so let's have some fun and make money, shall we?
