Have you been in a situation when you sit down to do some research to find good handregs, find a few good names, then you go look where you can register them for less at the moment, put the names into the registrar and find out someone has already registered the name, the name you thought was going to be yours.

Mine is TokenDoctor.com

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I just missed flipbitcoins.com, and it looks as if Pheenix grabbed it.
oh wow... that was a nice domain imo. it is privacy so we can't see who took it. guess the person registered it via pheenix

this happened to me on a expiring auction I even purchased the domain / paid for it got an email to say thanks (GoDaddy) then 3 days later they said the original owner had decided to buy it back.. is this for real?

original buyer can not buy back but renew it. that is how it works.

Not 100% but to some extent i agree. 2 yrsback when i saw a 3 letter.info domain free but when i was just about to pay the last page showed that domain is already taken.

Then i checked the whois and i was surprised to know that it was registered a few seconds back only which was later confirmed by the registrar customer careand they said it is merely a coincidence rarely this happens...

But this raises a question that can it be such a coincidence? May or not be.....!!

It has happened to me many times. I remember two names at the moment (but there are many more):

Thailand (dot) fr + Alpha (dot) consulting

I was going to register Frankly.info for 1$ last month but it was gone after just 2 hours.

not even sure if that's good :P. frankly.net sold for 4k, so the .com must've been a solid thing. But .org would be the next bet. . . Info? Idk.
For just 1$ its worth trying :)

I used to make almost all my income from Thailand related websites 2003-2013. Have had some good Thailand related domain sales as well ($xxxx each). However, Thailand is "Thaïlande" in French!

I can just add that Thailand.se (the domain alone) sold for more than 50,000 dollars a few years ago. But "Thailand" is also the correct spelling in Swedish.

Great, then you should know thailand.ly is available (Japan too).

Yes, it was very curious, I was already semi dreaming reading about Google remaning in Alphabet etc.
And suddenly decided to reg some alphabet related domain, so I check it from my mobile and it was aviable for reg fee.
I just needed less than 1 min to go to my PC (it is always turned on) and log into my Namesilo.
Less than 1 min!!! And it was regged.
I thought it was bug, so I checked the reg date and it was today, a few minutes before me!!

in some cases,
you can receive a "domain available" when it is not,
it happened to me several times,
and when you check the whois, you find that the domain was registered months ago

i think this happen, when some domain are listed on some marketplace for sale,
and there are some bugs with registrar telling you is this available to handreg,
when it is available as a premium sale on marketplace

This happened to me just the other night on an insanely good name (so good I can't remember) that came to me minutes before I went to bed. Said it was available on GD but once I clicked 'add to basket' it wasn't available. Gutted!

The Old Godaddy Platform use to be Great for this :xf.wink:, No research required type in a keyword and it use to suggest names that people typed and din't check out you have to go with your gut. Business is all about taking calculated risk if you wanna play safe you are better off getting a 9 til 5. $10 Bucks seems to be a small Risk there is something immoral about abandoning your own Gut and intuitions the most successful Business minds all take huge Risks sometimes you win sometimes not However this doesn't mean going on a fools errand and registering whatever comes to mind obviously.

I remember back during the .tv goldrush of 2010, I was beaten to so many names that later went on to sell for thousands or more each. Seems others also had the bright idea of writing an API tool. :)

Did they remove it just for domainers?

Not sure why they removed it bro, I use to register dozens of domains this way it was brilliant, the best suggestion tool by a mile, as it wasn't just domainers typing names and forgetting to check out some end users were and days after you register a domain via a suggestion you had end users chasing for it willing to pay 10 x..those were the days of quick flips it was one of my strategies. In any event Godaddy no longer does it no more easy pre cooked soup for domainers you have to do the cooking yourself

Happens everytime, but recent one was painful.
Had the name on checklist, then next day when I wanted to reg it GONE.
Registered and already published on BRANDBUCKET for 3k.
Man it took me a while to get over this trauma.

As an update to this thread, the other day I bought

Casino.club

From namecheap. I couldn't believe it hadn't been reg'd. I paid and got through checkout, chuffed with myself, and then an error message came up. I got in touch with them and the name had been reg'd already but they still let me get all the way through checkout and payed before I knew this. I got my money back etc. but it was an anti-climax. Be careful.

Not minutes though, I had this litechanger in my list for a few days. As I'm new and hesitate. Now it's registered. I think I actually like this name, cos it sounds like life changer :xf.cry:
