I had pre-ordered pizza / london through Dynadot since May and today I got message saying that this domain is deemed as Premium (which was expected) and new price is now 1.2 bil dollars

does that make sense to you?

I'm talking about the fact that:

a. premium is being decided on the last minute. You see, not all pre-orders are so obvious that there going to be premiums. That way I have lost a few pre-registrations (and money staying away from me for months) because they were considered premium at the last moment.

and

b. price being, like... way too high for anyone to get it?

Each? That's insane. :xf.eek:

Combined, I believe you got a better deal than a GoDaddy coupon applied. :xf.wink:

lol, yeah

though the price mentioned was specifically for the pizza . london pre-order
other prices that I have encountered were at the $xxx-$x,xxx range . I just found them too high priced to spend any money on them.

I'm pretty sure I'll regret not buying some of them in the future though :/

have Dynadot lied to me then? :/

Sounds like for some of these registries that premium could be decided based on how many people pre-ordered it. Let's face it, pre-orders are a great way to see what people want and then keep the stuff with demand.

Just one more reason I stay away from them.

@Hypersot

The Registry determines if a domain is considered premium. Our system was notified that pizza.london was a premium domain, but the $1.2 billion dollar price originally quoted was an error. Our apologies for the misinformation.

Thanks for taking the time and clearing this but you do realise that giving such kind of misinformation gives the wrong impression right?

I'm honest to say that I wouldn't spend $8k on this domain but someone else might have and wrong info such as that would cost that someone the domain he was waiting for since May.

still, thanks for answering

Absolutely, I'll talk to the team and make sure the correct details are given out in the future.

It may seem like a lot, but I mean, unlimited toppings...

The .LONDON Registry offers 8 premium tier pricing levels. pizza.london is tier 8. All tier 8 prices are 'reserved for release at a later date and will be priced on an individual basis' in the registry price list, while the other 7 levels have an actual price per level.

The $8,735.44 cost on 101Domain is the same cost they charge for a bunch tier 7 domains I checked. And the registry technical system returns the tier 7 prices for the tier 8 domains for some reason. So one possible conclusion is that 101Domain is basing their costs off the registry technical systems and not the price list since there is no actual price for pizza.london. Most likely the tier 8 domains will be auctioned off by the .LONDON registry.
