Ugh..a member here named RHINO on this forum contacted me about doing a BBPress theme. He seemed like a nice guy, showed me a website of some of his work, so I decided to go with him. I sent him an upfront payment of $50 through paypal. He hasn't contacted me in 9 days, and both the emails he gave me including his paypal one both send me failure notices back!!!

I disputed a claim with paypal after giving them all the information I could.

Will a MOD/ADMIN also look into this RHINO character as well? I saw another person in the developer area by the name of "rhinoz"
, I'm not for sure if their the same people, but their name is similar....

Also his birthday on the profile page is even a lie...as I found him using the name, c20, c20_theory, and rhino-x on other domain/webmaster forums and his age is listed as 18.

I don't want to post too much info about him, but the dude needs to refund me since he's clearly a fraud.

I know "rhinoz", he is a stand-up guy, so this is clearly someone different here. We can't do much without the exact username of this person.

When you paid for it by Paypal, did you mark the payment as being a good or being a service?

Sorry to hear this happened and hope you get it sorted.....

also bothers me that people use such similar usernames and can get confused with other "trustable" members, as it can effect their credibility if the casual reader doesn't notice the slight differences....Rhino and Rhinoz would be easy to mix up, and I have also had nothing but easy, trusting and professional design work done with Rhinoz (and have no idea who Rhino is), so bums me out that he could inadvertently be mixed-up with this guy....

well, again, I hope you either you get your money back or there winds up being a legitimate ground for the delay etc...

He said he wanted to get the design done before New Years, so nothing was delayed, but I was checking in to see how the design/customization was going, but both of the emails he gave me (one was his paypal, the other his email if I had questions) to contact him just sent back failure notices, and he hasn't logged on here since the 27th of December.

Any thing sent to his paypal address won't work, so anything paypal sent him regarding the dispute won't go through, unless he has another working email attached to that paypal account. Pisses me off. I've never had any problems before. I'll see how paypal handles this... "you live, you learn".

I have to throw my 2 cents in here. I saw the name RHINO popup in the design section and felt that there could be a contact issue here with our names being so close together. Up until now there hasn't been. BUT I want to assure those that know me that #1, no-one pays me until the work is done, #2, I stand by my work. If I say I can't do it, I can't do it and I have no qualms in saying that. If someone is on a deadline, I meet the deadlines. If I think it will go over a deadline, I will say so ahead of time.

Thanks for posting rhinoz. I just wanted to say that I wasn't trying to accuse you of being this other person, but because your member name was similar to RHINO I thought it would be a good idea to mention it for an admin/mod to check out too see if there was a connection.

As for the other person...his name was Charles Schlicht (can't be for sure if it's his real name), but it's what it says in paypal.

It's kind of eerie in some ways, before checking to see what was going on with the forum design/theme I thought was being created, I had a dream the nigth before with a snapping alligator so I looked it up online on a dream dictionary site. I'm very sorry to hear that sportomoney. The user "rhinoz" and "rhino" are certainly not the same person. I have never dealt with "Rhino" before but can back that "RhinoZ" is a stand up and honest person, certainly not the same. Although I am very sorry to hear about this other guy who went threw all of that for a lousy 50 bucks...I hope you can get your money back.

Well, if I am not mistaking once the claim is filed the funds are put on hold (so at least he can't go spending the money) but I would be sure to contact paypal and check the status of their "Verification" and be sure to add that you have no problem presenting them with anything they need as the goods or service you purchased never we actually "delivered"

Well skahy did you file a dispute/claim with paypal? You should do the same thing as I did, 2 against 1 shows he is a fraud and paypal will most likely see that and close his account for good, and return the payments.

If his account has no funds in it, paypal should at least close his account because he's clearly a scammer.

Of course I wouldn't trust a PM by some random user who just signed up, who has no itrader rating, or posts, but the RHINO person has been a member since 2005, for a decent amount of time and had 12 positive itrader ratings..i didn't think anything fishy about him, until both his emails gave me failure notices. That's when it was clear to me that something was up...

A friend of mine contacted c20theory.co.uk with a fake query on having a logo done, and asking him about the message posted here, and a guy by the name of Ron Carver got back to him and said:

"that was someone posing as us it was not a member of our team we do not require upfront payment for small jobs what is your budget?

My friend also told me the email address: [email protected] forwards to [email protected], which also forwards to [email protected] which RHINO the member here has listed in one of his posts. So it is the same person using a different name.

I am collecting all this information to write a large complaint to ic3.gov about this person. I am also writing a complaint to his host which is a free service provider. I also have his Ip Information now to contact his internet service provider. I'll see how things go!

So, have you found the email? If you don't, this is my 2 cents, ask NPs admin for his email. Since NP is asking for email to validate the registration, I guess he should be using the valid email.

Yeah, I finally got through to him after a friend let me know [email protected] forwards too [email protected] which seems to be his only working email address. He hasn't sent me back a email since I replied back to his yet.

He never mentioned either of those emails in Pm's, only ones that gave me failure notices back which lead me to beleive he was a fraud. I'm still on the defence..

I also just noticed he deleted his myspace after I had published it here!

If he wants to get this over with, he could easily contact paypal and tell them he wants to refund my money, as they will allow him to do that, and that would close the claim.

A quick summary, as I emailed this thread to the Paypal Claim Specialist:

1. RHINO is Charles Schlicht as is listed on paypal.

2. RHINO was supposed to customize a design theme for me by New Years, but he never kept in contact after I sent him the upfront payment. After trying to contact him on this forum, and after the emails he gave me in the Pm messages returned failure notices I opened a dispute and then escalated it to a claim, as I felt he was a fraud who ran off with my upfront payment.

3. I didn't have any contact with RHINO until a friend of mine told me [email protected] forwards to [email protected] / [email protected] last night (January 3rd, 2009). 4. I replied back to him, that he could contact paypal to refund me, and they would close the claim. That's where we are at right now.

The claim is now in review by Paypal, and it says they will decide by January 21st, 2009 on the outcome of my claim.


He has not replied back to the email I sent him on January 4th to contact paypal to tell them he wants to refund me, to close the claim I made against him.

I should also point out, he still hasn't sent me any design work to show he was working on the project we discussed....

Rhino/Charles has'nt emailed me back, and theres no new News from Paypal regarding my dispute..still waiting...
