Ugh..a member here named RHINO on this forum contacted me about doing a BBPress theme. He seemed like a nice guy, showed me a website of some of his work, so I decided to go with him. I sent him an upfront payment of $50 through paypal. He hasn't contacted me in 9 days, and both the emails he gave me including his paypal one both send me failure notices back!!!

I disputed a claim with paypal after giving them all the information I could.

Will a MOD/ADMIN also look into this RHINO character as well? I saw another person in the developer area by the name of "rhinoz"
, I'm not for sure if their the same people, but their name is similar....

Rhino/Charles has never emailed me back since he sent me an email on January 4th...he never showed me any of the work that I sent him the upfront payment for.. c20theory.co.uk (the website he said was his) seems to have disappeared (it doesn't resolve or display anything).

Paypal just sent me an email telling me that they're still actively working on the case, and It's taking a little longer than they expected to reach a decision. Really? How much more info do they need to know? This is ridiculous that it takes this long.

Paypal still hasn't decided yet on the claim outcome, and I have not received any updates rearding this claim.

As for the Charles guy, he seems to have disappeared. I last sent him a message 2 weeks ago, but he never responded back to that (or the one I sent him on January 4th), and the design website he was connected with: c20theory.co.uk has turned into a trap & kill mosquito website.

I can't believe with all I showed them regarding this guy, they sided in his favor. I have no work that I paid for, and I'm out $50 bucks.

The guy has had no contact with me for the past month.

Wow, sorry to hear about this. It seems Paypal always sides on the side that has done wrong (in all the Paypal stories I've read).

I checked out paypalsucks.com and it seems to be the case with many claims I've read. Ultimately, I think this was sided in RHINO's favor, because domains aren't covered under their policy, they are electronic goods.

The only way to have a chance with winning a dispute claim for electronic goods, is to claim the payment was made without your authorization. I decided to be honest and do the opposite, and clicked the other option that the seller never sent me the product! Clearly.. honesty doesn't win with paypal, I should of lied and said it was made without my authorization.

Despite all of this, what really pisses me off, is that they have allowed Charles to use an email address that no longer works. His [email protected] email isn't a working email address. Try sending an email, and you'll get a failure notice back. You would think the claim specialist would of looked into that!

Anyway...I can't do a chargeback because Paypal automatically took the money out of my checking account. They don't give you the option to choose how you want to pay (credit or checking). They automatically will take it out of your checking or paypal balance once you put your bank account on there, because they know they can't win against most chargebacks through your credit/debit card company.

He offered a Steam account (www.steampowered.com)
with a large number of games including counter strike & cs source, half life & hl 2, portal, left 4 dead, and more...
The total of all the games is pretty high...

He was selling it on craigslist for $50 (I guess 50 is his magic number?)

Initial email to him:

Your offer seems too good to be true.
Did you enable these games with a hack?

Also, is your account VAC banned?
