Hang on a sec. towns.company 100k, yet townscompany.com is sitting there free to register?

Does not compute.

No, it doesn't.

Looks like it's up for sale on Sedo for 16.78 million. And townscompany.com is still sitting available to handreg.

towns.company - don't know what thoughts are behind such a name, but it doesn't read like proper English. Maybe it does to those with English as a 2nd language?

Yikes, the $100,000 sale doesn't look legit. So only 1 sale over 10k in almost 3 years. Not a good look.

Even .coms ending in the keyword company don't sell that good - https://namebio.com/?s=ANzATO3MTO

You guys should really look into those .com sales before you go to deep with this one.

boatcompany.com 897 USD
salmoncompany.com 405 USD
flowercompany.com 1,225 USD
fitnesscompany.com 988 USD
candlecompany.com 2,075 USD
robotcompany.com 817 USD
yachtcompany.com 661 USD
seafoodcompany.com 1,279 USD

I bet most of you would ask more for those keywords, when the buyer can get the .com cheaper probably.

It's because most companies actually have their own (unique/brandable) name.

Not all situations are the same when it comes to choosing a right domain name. 'Sound' is just one factor, which could be very important in some instances, and not so much in others.

I do think .company can work well in some instances, and not as much in others.

Google's going to X.company may or may not have been a great move. Eg. A friend said X.company seems/sounds 'pretentious', when tied to what Google is looking to use it for. His thoughts, his perceptions. But I also had a similar thought when I saw the name change.

Do you know that Coca Cola sold just 25 gallons of Syrup in it’s first year.
So this and many more instance tells me NOT to always follow the crowd.
.Company is my favourite extension; whether it sales on not.

Ok, here is another cool .company domain from our portfolio: Lipstick.company will turn 3 years old next year.

Avoid trademarks. You can register generic words, but NEVER use them to offer same services/products offered using the registered trademark. There are a lot more to these, but this is just the basic my friend.

these are all generic❗

Yea, if everyone liked just one thing in this entire world...how would we all be so unique in many ways. Not everyone in the ice cream parlor is buying chocolate and not everyone wants sprinkles on it. Extensions fit different people. Some people love Honda and some people love Toyota. For the lost people that are in this .company forum...most of us in here already have large .com portfolios, be we still love .company also. End of story.

Well, sales are the goal right? So it shouldn't be "or not". And the Coca-Cola reference means nothing, since there are many more companies that failed. And if I used those as an example, that wouldn't matter either because we're just talking about the .company extension. Also, earlier you said something about how many .com were sold in first 10 years. When they first came out, you couldn't use them for websites since browsers didn't exist yet, there were no sites back then.

You should look at .company sales (lack of really), it's been around pushing 3 years now.

You should look at keywordcompany.com sales.

Study the market. Good luck.
