GoDaddy won't let me sell my domain name

I've recently accepted an offer for a domain name i had listed on sedo for $700. This is the first time i've successfully sold a name, so i received an email from sedo then network solutions to initiate the technical transfer. When i carried out the instructions to unlock the domain, then accept the transfer request contained in the email, i then received another email from godaddy telling me i can't transfer the name for 60 days because i recently changed the registrant details, all i did was change my name from eg. 'joe bloggs' to 'j bloggs' Why would this make any difference to anything? Surely if i want to change the details i'm entitled to, now i have to wait until april and possibly lose the sale.
Have i got any rights in this situation?

This is standard and GoDaddy.com won’t budge on it. Why don’t you explain the situation and ask the buyer to open a free account at GoDaddy.com so you can “Push” the name free of charge to them?

Kind regards,
Kimmy

Thanks for the suggestion, i'm not in direct contact with the buyer though, it's all being done through sedo.
What do you think their response would be?

I'd think they may not be too psyched, but if they are willing to spend $700 then I'd think they want the name enough to open the account.

If they been into domains they will probably accept it and wait if they really like the domain. If they are in a hurry to get the domain and really would like it, they will most likely make an account at Godaddy.com and setup the nameservers then transfer it to another register when possible. :)

Yeah, that's what I say. IMO, you should not get involved in the transfer process anyhow. Do a push and let them worry about the transfer process themselves. If SEDO won't let you do it this way, then technically your problem is not Godaddy but rather SEDO.

I sold a domain through Sedo once, when it was regged for less than 60 days in my Godaddy account. From what I remember, I pushed the name into Sedos Godaddy account, and I think the buyer then opened their own Godaddy account to take control of the name.

I am sure Sedo will be able to help you out with this.

Explain the situation to Sedo and they will then explain this to the buyer.

This is the best solution, i think .push the domain to sedo's godaddy account and they will push it to buyers account [buyer will create an account , if he can spend $700 for that domain he will do this too ]

Thanks for the advice everyone,i've emailed sedo and they said the following;

I just informed the buyer if he want to create an account at godaddy. I will inform how we will proceed as soon as we know anything from the buyer. When did godaddy
activated the lock status?'

English not his first langauge? Anyway seems quite promising.

This should work out for you. Keep us posted Geoff, I'm hoping for a smooth transaction from this point on.

Sedo account

Sedo.com probably has an account already at GoDaddy. You can push it to them, so they have control of the domain. They have done this for me, with other registrars.

From my see transactions list at Sedo:
2006-02-20 The domain has been successfully pushed to our Sedo account. We shall now process your payment. Your part in this transfer is now complete, and we shall assist the buyer in taking control of the domain. Once the buyer has control of the domain, the listing will be deleted from your Sedo account.
