So here it is.

Today I have received an email from GD saying that 3 of my numeric domains that I have bough from a NP member were cancelled and removed from my account.
Surprised I checked the whois and it turns out the are repossessed by GD.

I call the ( useless ) support and they tell me that there are problems with the previous owner's account and that if I want the domains back in my account I have to pay for their registration.

WTF?

So GoDaddy refuses to contact the previous owner and gives me 2 options

1) pay for registration
2) contact the previous owner and see what he/she can do...
WHAT????

WARNING : GoDaddy will take away any domain from your account if the previous owner/s are having issues on their accounts. They STEAL domains from the current account no matter what and if you want to have them back you have to pay for registration ( or whatsoever amount they tell you ). THEY DO NOT CARE how long the names have been in your account for and they DO NOT CARE that you have not being the registrar and they DO NOT CARE that you are not the "non paying" account holder.

GODADDY IS A FRAUD, BEWARE! GODADDY ARE THIEVES.

Transfer any domain out as soon as you can.

I would be really really pleased to hear what @Joe Styler has to say about this.
In the meantime shame on you GoDaddy

May they can remove creditcard from their checkout
In that case they would have to remove debit card as well, so How would I or you pay for domains ? By cheque ? :P

Yes, steal.

Take back property, without prejudice, that is stolen to begin with (charge back).

Seeing you approve their attitude I will let you work with them while I move away all my domains.
Good luck.

@photonmymind , where did you buy? reveal the seller info to get blacklisted.

According to the Chargeback issue, godaddy can't do anything in this case. May they can remove creditcard from their checkout -_- (but it's not good for them as a seller.)

I will first give this person the chance to fix things, then I will make the name public.
I bought the names on NP.

They don't have any seller protection payment system !!!

I don't get how a domain can be 'stolen' from a registrar.
Say you buy a domain and lapse the refund period. If you contact the credit card company, you're typically still able to get money back through what is known as a charge back. If this is a .com, GoDaddy still owes Verisign and ICANN. The domain has to be seized from your (in this case, another's) account and attempted to be resold on the aftermarket to make up for their loss.

The domain was "stolen" by the fact that it is unpaid for. Because of this, there are three options: pay for it, have the previous owner pay for it, or let GoDaddy have their property (ie unpaid for domain) back.

No one has actually. You cant do much in case of chargebacks. Someone never did chargeback on you @ Paypal ?

Sounds like the seller knew what he was doing and played you.

My question : Who did the scammer scam ? Godaddy or Photon ?

1. Godaddy by not paying for the domain ?
2. Photon by selling her a domain they did not own ?

Be it any registrar, on charge-back they would take the domains back. Plus some of the registrar would lock down the account if one of you domain's payment is charge-backed. So Godaddy doesnt look to be at fault here.

Seller scammed GoDaddy and Buyer as well.

I feel sorry for you photon but blamming GD wont sort your problem.

Interesting point.

The person scammed GD but GD does not want to lose any money so what do they do? make someone else pay ..very well done.

I like those who are so quick at saying that it is "procedure"..

I would ask them if they thought about what GD would have done if the name were with another registrar...they would have spoken straight away with the "troublemaker" but as the names were still with them it was sooooo much easier to just go and take it from my account and ask ME to pay for them.

What they will do, if the domain transferred out after 60 days to another registrar, if charge-back claimed !!!

Go daddy didn't know if the items was stolen?
The new owner didn't know, that the item he purchased was stolen?
Only the seller knows where he got the item from.

My question is, as a buyer how we supposed to know if the items or items was stolen?
So now the original owner of the item or items wants it back.
Now, does the buyer gets his money back?
To prevent this things from happening again, what can godaddy and other registrar will do?

Only thing you can do is deal with trusted people who has done transaction before. Nothing else you can do. Seller, be it registrar or anyone else try to verify more and more details to avoid this kind of chargeback but the ones who does it; will do..

Paypal never negated your balance once charge-back is done by buyer ? I guess it might have done sometime as you look to be old in this industry. If thats the case, did you blame Paypal for the mess ?

You can verify with uniregistry even they would do something like this on chargebacks.

paypal changed their window to file dispute with them from around 2 months to 180days... 6 months. they did not want to pay the $100 or so it cost them each time a chargeback was done on them.

I do not believe they will even let you or yoru card company make chrgeback to them before those 180 days are up. only a direct paypal dispute.

and once the 180 dyas are up.. well.. at that time its past deadline to file chargeback with most/all credit cards anyway. so I think paypal and chargebacks, after this time window increase, are pretty much no longer words or concepts that can be used in same sentence.

I find uniregistry really great. the best interface and dn manager I ever saw.

but there are some advantages with being with world's most known and popular registrar. quick pushes, many buyers actually refusing a sale now and then unless you offer godaddy push... etc.

plus its not sure how uniregistry or any other registgrar for that matter handles situation like this, where the previous domain owner had account issues or made chargebacks etc.

thoughts?
