GoDaddy showing registered when it's not!

FIRST OFF, let me just say I am HAPPY with the godaddy service overall, this IS NOT a godaddy witchhunt!


Now that that's clarified , I do have sort of a disturbing thing happen today (in terms of a life of a domainer lol).

There was a name I wanted to pick up. I checked on godaddy.com , it showed that the name is already registered, so far looks normal as good names often get picked up.

I just randomly did a search on Namecheap as a backup (ya I like to doublecheck things).
And guess what, The name was showing available.. (checked back with a new godaddy page, it still showed as taken). Didn't know which info to trust.I went ahead with the registration on Namecheap and got a confirmation.

I went in my domain management page on namecheap & the name IS there!

So this is just to help other domainers (despite giving away a trick I guess lol), but if a name is showing that it's taken on one registrar and you really want that name, make sure to check with at least 1 other registrar.

Haven't had any issues with godaddy sofar, but it's always good to double check! Thanks for the advice.

happened to me once before.

check name on godaddy
shows available
I click add to cart
it rechecks it then if available (which already is ultra rare and weird)
then shows no longer avalable

go quickly to namecheap, shows available
add to cart
buy it.

I guess there are all kinds of conclusions you can draw from that.
due to which, I draw none.

I personally think (trying to use a logical approach, not a programmer) , but maybe someone put it in their cart, then decided not to buy and it left a cookie somewhere causing glitches at different level of registration.. wtv the case lol

yep... like I said could be many things.. temporary reg delay glitch with godaddy (and only theirs) systems..

namecheap knows a thing or two about glitches too I'm sure cause about 70% of time I try to use their bulk registration tool, to check if some names are still up for grabs, the tool is simply dead.

Yep I notice the same thing today. Checked some names in GoDaddy and it said Not Available. Went to Dynadot and Name.com whois check and both said it was available to register.
