Can tell me since when godaddy lock the domains for 60 days even if you push the name to an account to an other account?

And what can be done to overpass this rule?

Thanks,
Taz

I didn't like that rule either, but now see the reason for it - and hope other registrars adopt it - especialy SateGate and Enom.

I know from experiance that Godaddy is firm on it, and now think it is a good idea as it relates to domain ownership and security.

Think of it this way - it's now harder to steal domains in Godaddy than other registrars, even if someone else gets all your Godaddy account info.

It also puts a kink in buying or selling domains within the last 60 days of reg if you don't want to renew there.

I agree with the safety precaution, but maybe 30 days would be sufficient.

Why? You can move any name, anytime, from one godaddy account to another. You just can't transfer away from GoDaddy to different registrar for 60 days following an ownership change.(between two GoDaddy account)

It's a good rule. It means if ownership of a name hapens to be falsly transfered to another godaddy account, it can't leave godaddy's control for 2 months, giving the rightfull owner time to catch the bogus transfer and rectify it.

if somebody take control aver the account the name can be transfered to other registrar.

they lock tha name after an internal transfer... that's not good for me...I'm buying and selling domains .... not all my clients like godaddy, big clients wants the names out from them...I'm loosing business.

I didn't know about this rule...but now I'll take all my names out from daddy.

Your losing business because the client has to leave a name they bought from you, at a reputable registrar, for 60 days?

Sounds like a good safety feature to me. But I do see tazboxer's point. Just try to sell the names before they are in the last two months, I guess.

after an internal transfer you can not change the registrar for 60days.

I bought some names few weeks ago, the names were push in my account. Now I've sold the name but the buyer don't want to deal with godaddy....but I CANNOT transfer the names away.

They are not flexible. I spend all they long friday to explain the situation...to find a solutions....they don't want to do anything about this.

It is NOT LEGAL to hold the names for 60 days after an internal transfer.

Well it is legal if you agreed to have them as you're registrar and if that is the policy you accepted, right?

More often, I buy a name near renewal at a good price thats at GD. Therefore, I did not choose GD. I want to transfer where I have lower renewal costs rather than leave at godaddy. You can't even tranfer to a wildwestdomain reseller account because technically they are a different registrar. I left godaddy long ago as a regular customer a bit before they dropped registrant transfer fees. anything I buy that's there, I want to transfer out to Enom or Registerfly.
