So a little while ago I regged discoverjournal.com. Going down my list I accidentally entered it again and it came up as being available, on auction. I didn't put it on auction. GoDaddy whois shows it belonging to the account I regged it to. So it's in my ownership, according to GoDaddy.

My best guess is that it was on auction at GoDaddy when it expired, but there's currently 43 days left on the auction. So GoDaddy knows when it's available, but GoDaddy Auctions doesn't, and in the process of determining if it's available, when it's not available GoDaddy checks GoDaddy Auctions and GoDaddy auctions says, "yeah, it's over here. Go ahead and try to get someone to buy it for $499"

I don't have anything to be concerned about here, do I? I mean, sooner or later GoDaddy's hands will meetup and get this straightened out, won't they?

It's probably the auction of the previous owner. I don't know why GoDaddy can list it on auction, when we can't, if there is already an auction in progress. But that's how it is. Just email [email protected], stating you recently hand-reg this domain, with you GoDaddy Account No, and request the auctions deletion They will remove the old listing. If you don't, that 90 day auction will keep renewing and renewing.

I get around this problem by putting the domain on Premium listings. This synchronizes the auctions, and the only auctions left are mine. Then, if Premium listing is canceled, all auctions are cancelled too.

I'm thinking I'm not even go to worry about it. I figure that if it were to sell for the asking price GoDaddy I'd end up with the money. I mean, GD couldn't just steal the domain name from me.

Bad idea. The listing is not associated with your account. It'd be wise to inform Godaddy, then relist it if you choose.

Sounds like wise advice. Thanks again to all who replied!

If you list it then the old listing automatically disappears.
It's just that GD doesn't update its listing database often enough...

@photonmymind - That's not true. If you try to list a domain that is listed by another account. GoDaddy don't allow you to list it again. You have to email auctions support to remove the old listing before you can add the domain.

@stub I have done it several times.

@photonmymind - I list maybe 500 domains a year on their auctions, and not once has this happened to me. If I want to list a listed domain I have to email their support to get it removed. You just cannot list a domain which is already listed. Their system just won't allow you to list the domain, at all.

We must be talking at crossed purposes here.

@stub

Look first of all don't go around implying that I am a liar or a BSer.
Second I just told you that I did it several times.
Third I don't really care if you believe it or not and how many domains you list per year.
Forth it can just be country related
Fifth : every time that I list a domain they take a 72 hr time to approve the listing and in that time frame they verify ownership. At least it it what happened to me every time that a domain was already listed. If they changed things in the last months that I don't know as I haven't listed names recently.

@photonmymind - Ahh.. That's the difference between our expierences. You wait 3days and list them again. I can't wait 3 days to try to list the domain again. I need it resolved asap, so can list it, and forget about it, and move on to the next problem.

I did mention that we must be talking at crossed purposes. And it seems we were.

Your conclusions about me implying you are a liar or a BSer, are completely unfounded. I never at any time implied that. We just had a 180 degree different experience. I think you are way, way, to sensitive and owe me an apology.

I don't know about Godaddy premium listing, but at their auctions site, it is possible to list domains that are already listed. I have successfully listed many such domains at GD auction as make offer, with a bin and 7-day public auction. For non-listed domains, they automatically verify ownership and listing goes live within minutes, but for domains already listed by previous owner, they take more time. The maximum time they ever took to verify such domains for me was 24 hours.

Thanks for your comments @VNA. But we were not discussing premium auctions. But it is always good to know how these thing work.

I think that when someone states the following

That's not true

about what someone else says it implies that the other person is either BSing, lying or maybe being dumb..
So what do you exactly mean when you say that?
Because in my world if you affirm that what someone else is saying is not true it either means that the person is deliberately lying or that she is bullshitting ( other way of saying talking without having a clue ).
It is not about being sensitive it is about using words the appropriate way and in both cases I certainly don't own an apology to you.

AND NO
You wait 3days and list them again.

I don't wait 3 days. When you list a domain it automatically goes in the " pending " ones before being listed.
That is when GD automatically verifies ownership ( I assume ) and they say it can take up to 3 days but I can often see the domains in the " selling " section in some hours.

as VNA also confirmed

So why Stub didn't you say that what VNA was saying is not true?
Why didn't you come out @... THIS IS NOT TRUE like you did with what I said?
Learn manners then we can talk

@photonmymind. OK. It's not worth arguing with you any longer. Your going on my ignore list. It's a pity because sometimes you have useful contributions to make on NP. But this isn't one of them. I won't see any of your posts anymore. Bye.

YEP...that's how people deal with confrontation..
When they run out of arguments they either become super aggressive or offensive or they block you.

@VNA - Oops. I was mistaken. You were talking about the same auctions, that we were talking about. Sorry.
