In order to get a cheaper domain name, I purchased GoDaddy's domain appraisal service (express), but can I really trust the estimated value that they provided?

How is it "cheaper" ... did you have to pay for the "appraisal" ?!?
What was the domain name, and can you copy & paste the "appraisal" here please.

Thanks much.

well as you can see, that an appraisal is an professional opinion of a person about a certain domain. So it is better if you can get more than one appraisals... post your domain here and see if the appraisals match ...

I doubt GoDaddy's appraisal can guarantee you anything :imho:

I bet you they have a bunch of people like us from NP, and they give them 3% of what you pay them to give an idea to you.

Post the name here then tell us the results from godaddy.
I read on another forum how godaddy appraised art.us. Their appraisal wasn't realistic at all. But an appraisal is just that and not an exact science :hehe:

What can you expect from a US$4.95 appraisal...?
Try Namepros instead :)

well, no appraisal service can guarantee anything. Free or Paid.
I personally would never pay for an appraisal. but that's just me.
it's pretty simple, a domain is only worth what someone is willing to pay.

Learn how to do research on your domain names and then you can better
understand it's value. NP'S is the perfect place to learn about domains.

Also, If you want to get a lower price at godaddy you could have chosen
TDnam for $4.95 + $1.99 for the domain +.25 Icann = $7.19

1 year TDnam, worth more than any appraisal.

And of course this all my opinion! :imho: :talk:

You forgot the saveten code :) which can bring down the price to $6.49

Companies who you pay to have an appraisal do it for a reason. TO MAKE MONEY. They are not thinking about you, or your domain. All they are interested in is your money! As stated above, no appraisal in the world will guarantee the value of a domain. It doesn't matter if you paid $300, $2, or got it done free here on Namepros.

But, at least, with the free ones, you aren't losing money. If 20 members tell you it is a pretty good domain valued at $xxx to $x,xxx, then you have a pretty good idea of it's worth, and can hopefully sell it close to that amount. If no replies to your appraisal request here, then it's probably a nice way of telling you it doesn't have much value.

So, forget paying for domains. If you have 100 domains, and you paid $15 to appraise each one, you just spent $1500!! It adds up quick.
