How accurate is GoDaddy's express appraisal service?

I recently bought an express appraisal from godaddy that said a domain I own is worth $38-$1XX, but on the estibot service, it says it's worth $2,000+. Which should I trust more? Both are automatic appraisals, but the difference s is that estibot is free.

Regards,
Brian

I wouldn't believe either. GD's express appraisal is done with script. Your other appraisal is run on a script as well. At the end of the day, no computer program or script is going to accurately tell you what your domain is worth.

Maybe you should try to appraise it here at Namepros. You will get an accurate one.

Estibot is ok, afaik, but not perfect, as it is still in beta.

It is weird that usually GD gives a higher estimated value of your domain. I wouldn't trust them. And wouldn't purchase any paid appraisal service.

Try forums, and do not try paid appraisal services. My 2 cents

GD's express appraisal will often give identical valuations to two completely different domains. Their script is worthless IMO (if you already couldn't tell from my previous post).

Agreed. GD's script is not only pathetic, it is also outdated and hasnt been updated since its creation...

estibot uses a script that uses sales data from recent sales, and I find to be not that bad at all... However, truth be told - compare and contract yourself, check domain sales for comparables keywords, TLD's, or other factors... (see my sig).. also, ask here on the appraisals section.. There are some solid domainers in this forum who are only happy to share their opinion and knowledge of the market and potential sales prices...

Agreed, don't trust either of them. Post them here or in other domain forums if you want more accurate appraisals

ITs weird that i read at some other forum that Godaddy appraisal service was bad because it undervalued the domain. It said that the domain was worth only 10% of what the domain was actually sold for

so in the end, we can say that a script remains a script and cannot take the place of a human mind

I believe the appraisals are deliberately high, because who would be satisfied with a "paid" appraisal only to receive a low estimate.. we have enough problems with people grousing when they get a FREE appraisal and it doesn't suit them!
