GoDaddy Checkout problems, am I the only one?

I have been experiencing problems checking out at godaddy since yesterday. I have a saved payment method that I use everyday and for some reason yesterday started giving me errors.

I get to the cart where everything looks fine. Then I place order and get an error telling me to fix the problems. The problem is the phone number that is showing. All of the 1's have been removed.

I have written support many times and am told to do something different or opposite from the last person. Nothing fixes the problem. Which means that I cannot quickly checkout. I must fix this phone number every single time I checkout now.

Is anyone else having this problem?

I had a similar problem with my saved payment method. For some reason it wasn't accepted (their system seems to have changed the expiry date from 09 to 01); but when I entered the details manually it worked o.k.

Regards

Ralph.

I had a similar problem whenever i use the Honey discount coupon - I guess they are making sure it only works for people residing in US and not for others!!! :)

The phone number deal is an ongoing problem with Go Daddy, but usually does not show up at checkout. Instead, it shows up as an error in the contact form once the domain is already registered.

The problem is that there is no drop-down menu option to put in a tel. country code in account settings so it shows as an error down the line. I have gone around and around with my account rep, but nothing has happened. He said that the tech people don't want to make the change (huh?).

Perhaps if enough people complain on Facebook, perhaps that will force the tech department to make this very-needed change in account settings.

You are not the only one. I just had a similar error a couple of days ago, somehow one of the digits of my phone number was missing which I did not change. I put the number back and was able to checkout just fine. Strange error.

I have not purchased anything since, so I don't know if it will happen again. Hopefully they get it fixed because it would be annoying to deal with that everytime.

I appreciate the replies. I am on day 3 now of this problem. I order something / renew something every day at godaddy. Most of the time 4 and 5 times a day. So it is frustrating to have to stop and edit this phone number upon checkout EACH TIME when I never changed anything in my account...

Am guessing it is not going to be resolved anytime soon...

It normally happens when you use coupons or promo codes which are not right for your country. A lot of them for example are for US & Canada only

In my case, I am not using any coupons. Just trying to use my saved payment method to renew something or buy something.

Are you sure you are not using a link from an affiliate for example?

Positive... I have used 3 different browsers. I get the same error at checkout. I have my debit card as my default method. I get to the cart, I see my accurate billing info. Then I click place order and I get the error that there were problems. And I must edit that phone number (which is missing all of the 1's) and then I can check out.

I have already attempted to get it resolved by submitting a support request. But it is not helpful. It has been a back and forth with way too many emails. One rep says to do this. Next one says do the exact opposite. I know I am just wasting my time. Which is also frustrating. I am in the exact same position as I was 3 days ago...only minus several hours of my time..

On day 4, my checkout problem has disappeared. I have successfully checkout out twice today.

No idea. But happy it seems to be working again:)

Congrats. I presume all your complaints were finally recognized once they received enough complaints from other people apart from you. This is one of the things I hate about GoDaddy support. They no longer try to support individual complaints. The complaint needs to come from many people before they will act.

Today when I tried to renew some of my domains, I got the same error message. But instead of missing 1s, there were additional numbers in my phone number. No matter how many times I edited it, the error continued. Then, I emptied the cart, changed the currency from my local currency to USD and it worked for me.

Stub, I agree 100%. I had already given up. After many emails over 3 days and each rep saying the opposite of the last, I knew it was not going anywhere. But perhaps after all of the collective emails they were forced to notice that there was some sort of glitch.

I am just glad it finally got fixed. Today's issue, this pending whois verification issue. Nearly everyone of my domains were in this status. And no way to clear them. I needed to push a name and was not able to do that because of this. Had to call them. Most of my names are clear now. But still have some that are not. This despite clicking the "action required for domain activation" email that was sent 24 hours ago.

All of my domain names were pending Whois verification about 1 hour ago. I had to verify my eMail address with a Godaddy link, and this put everything back in Active status.

What is it you guys are saying about the whois verification? Are you referring to the once a year emails that GoDaddy sends out on behalf of ICANN? Then if you just ignore that email (like I do every year) that all my domains will be put on some kind of hold status? Hold from what? Not resolving, unable to transfer, or what exactly?

This seems to be a new email verification GoDaddy is sending out, separate from the ICANN whois requests. I myself received one a couple of days ago after a handreg. I thought it was spam so I deleted it rather than clicking their link. Turns out it must be something valid and actually from GD, as my gTLD names now show as "pending email verification." However, my ccTLD names are not affected.

Prior to now I do not recall ever receiving something like this from GD (or any other registrar) asking me to verify just my email addy.

Below is the email I received:

I got one like this "Action required for domain activation"

I checked the sender, I think they must put note in the the account page so we know that it is something real, no spamming email.
