GoDaddy Auctions -- Discussion, Acquisitions, and Sales

I searched the forum and could not find a thread dedicated solely to Godaddy auctions, which seem to be heating up lately.

I envision this thread as a place for discussion regarding YOUR sales and acquisitions, and general discussion about the auction venue itself, and, perhaps, some domain oddities that are popping up on the auction site, for example, high-priced domains that should be regfee.

:)

One caveat, though: for your own good, PLEASE do not reveal your auction win (or anyone else's, for that matter) until the domain has landed in your account because the original owner still has the option to renew it, and I know how vexing that can be. In other words, don't count your chickens until they're hatched.

On the other hand, if you're having second thoughts about your auction win, by all means tell us all about it.

I suppose that if an auction win is high profile, it's already out there, but, still...

Anyway, I'll start with three comments:

1. I won my first (and maybe last) intentional typo, and it's getting clicks (no $ so far, though): Forwx.com. I could not find a live TM on this term, but one never knows. I have mixed feelings about this one.

2. I accidentally clicked on a BIN that I didn't want (I wanted the one above it), but I decided to honor the bid anyway. Grrr..., so be careful before hitting the submit button. It's not in my account yet, so I can't really reveal it right now.

3. Currently, there's a weird .co domain at over $9,000, with three bidders duking it out. Again, I don't want to reveal what it is, but if you go to the most active auctions, it's number 1 (as of this posting).

Mods, I hope this thread is okay.

:)

to get 500 results, I have to run a search, then select 300, let it run, then select 500 and let it run.

I tried it with my old 500-result-searches that worked before this update, and a brand new saved search.

Same here.
Also I cant get it to just search for exact extension like .com only.

Lot of bugs.

It looks like a lot of the bugs are now fixed, at least the ones I was having problems with.

Anyone watching File4Sharing.com?
Its at $18,705
I have never seen an expiring name with such a high bid.
It went from $105 to $18,700 with one bid.

:|

Update: It closed at$18,705

The bids were
$105
$18,700
$18,705

Someone bids $18,700 and then gives up at $18,705?

I guess that $5 must have broken the bank for them :|

Update 2:

Looking at the bids they really look strange.
11/02/2012 06:18:32 AM (PST) 11/06/2012 Bidder 4 $18,705
Comment: Proxy Bid
11/02/2012 06:17:56 AM (PST) 11/06/2012 Bidder 3 $18,700
Comment:
11/02/2012 06:17:56 AM (PST) 11/06/2012 Bidder 3 $105

Bidder 3 places a proxy bid at 06:17:56 AM for $18,700 and it bumps the bids to $105.
Then .36 seconds later bidder 4 comes in out of nowhere and bids $18,705 and then no other bids come in and it closes 6hrs later.

Strange, very strange :-/

Nah.

That "sale" won't complete. I'd be surprised if it did.

I suspect that bids 3 and 4 are fake (for whatever reason).

Usually, when a sale goes into those x,xxx and xx,xxx numbers, there are several bidders (if not bids) involved.

Also, that spammy-looking domain itself is not a $xx,xxx name.

I also found out that the same domain sold 4 months ago on flippa for over $15k and it was only created last year.

Some pretty shady stuff going on :|

I lost affirmable.com due to the "owner" transferring it to namecheap.

He/she went into privacy mode, perhaps a bit cowardly (not that I would shoot off an angry email, lol).

VERY cagey.

It was a BIN auction, so I can't imagine it being a big ticket name.

FWIW, I was having second thoughts about it anyway.

I am so sick and tired of my "Auctions Ending"

Especially days after I pay for my auctions.
Just today alone I had two auctions end after I paid for them 4 days ago.

These are some of the names I recently lost to renewing.

ChocolatePeanutButter.com
Free-Checking.com
Garaging.com.
MegaWallet.com
PowerPayday.com

I know its just part of the process but it feels good to vent.

Actually I now love the new platform as well.
I love the way the saved searches work now and are so accessible.

The only thing I do not like, no place to save the domains you had on your watchlist that expired. AS soon as auction closes, it is gone gone.

Check in "didn't win"

South,

That works for stuff you bid on. I mostly buy closeouts, and other buy it nows. So I place alot of those on my watch list. Once it is gone... it is gone gone, and no way to see all the domains, for purposes of registering once it drops. Only way is to do a daily export.

Anyone having problems getting their domains into their account?

I purchased a few domains from closeout and expiring auction and they were supposed to be in my account a few days ago and I haven't received them yet.

I always get them in my account the day before the "Ready" date but this time they still haven't been transferred to me and the whois is still blank but it says it was updated a few days ago.

I have more due to come in tomorrow so I wonder how long this will continue.

Very strange.
Anyone else having this problem?

:-/

The few I recently bought came over just fine. I do have another one or two coming soon, so will keep it updated.

Thanks,

I have an update, I just received a domain that was due to go into my account tomorrow.
And that is normal because I usually get the domains a day before the ready date.

But the two I mentioned in my last post still haven't arrived and they were due in a couple of days ago.

I'll keep you updated ;)

Lennco, this does sound odd.

Have you called or emailed support?

One possibility: the "owner" started the transfer process late and the domain is still in process for transfer.

I hope that's not the case, though.

Hi Ms Domainer,

Yes I spoke to my rep yesterday and he thought they were just running behind.
I emailed support this morning about 4 hrs ago and I haven't heard back yet.

Today is day 46 for one of them and that makes it mine.
Its extremely frustrating, I don't know what else to do.

:(

Update: everything is finally ok
All names are now in my account :)
