Global warming – Are we being lied to?

Interesting article below:

The media is chock full with articles of scientists, environmentalists and Carbon Billionaires (Al Gore) – stating how mankind is destroying the planet with our use of fossil fuels and other contaminents. The fact that industry is causing ecological and environmental damage is without doubt, but are we really the cause of the high greenhouse gas levels, or should we be more concerned with natural causes such as melting permafrost.

We also take a look at why the ex Leader of Greenpeace lied on national television regarding Arctic ice disappearance and then defended the fact that Greenpeace had released inaccurately alarming information and their practice of “emotionalizing issues” in order to alter public opinions and bring people around to its way of thinking about issues?

Regardless of how it is happening, Earth is going through a change, a cycle and we need to recognize this. Also, regardless we should try to limit our impact on this planet as much as possible. Live in harmony with nature while still being technological.

No matter what the topic -- politics, business, global warming, etc... -- each side tells outright "untruths" and "spin" things (positively or negatively) to best suit their own agenda.

As far as global warming goes, as GreenGambler pointed out, the earth goes through natural cycles of warming and cooling, something I think all (or at least most) sides acknowledge now as fact.

I think it's just common sense to understand that anything and everything we add to this process -- generation of additional heat, greenhouse gasses, removal of flora, pollution that kills/damages natural cleansing/cooling mechanisms, etc... -- is just going to contribute and/or speed up the natural cycle and possibly increase the overall effects (damage???).

If you have a small fire burning at a nice rate in your fireplace, wouldn't adding a few more twigs (or a splash of petroleum product) increase the heat at a much faster rate? This added burn rate might even cause the fire to burn out a bit faster than had it been left alone.

Global Warming is really alarming and scary. We now feel the effect of it on keep changing of weathers, floods and environmental disasters. We should now start taking care of our mother nature or else we all suffer from her anger.:loveyou:

YES - by those people who deny the existence of it.
It EXISTS and will only get worse.
Luddites have always denied scientific facts when their ignorance over-rides their understanding.

Remember when people denied that the earth was not FLAT.
When belief of the rotation of the earth around the SUN was Heresy.
Or when domainers knew as common Knowledge that only .COM's made money

Remember it is POLITICIANS telling us that global warming does not exist.
Which sounds more plausible?

GLOBAL WARMING or an HONEST POLITICIAN.

There is a rather interesting two sides to the story here in Australia, the current (Labor) government who believe in it, and are trying hard to do something, and the current (liberal) opposition who mainly represent big mining, big business and farmers, who naturaly dont believe in it. Says a lot IMO.

i agree with DJUka- our industrialization,hunting etc have had adverse effects on the environment, and yes, it will only get worse if we do nothing, or remain in denial about it. Global warming is quite real IMO despite it being a "hot" media item.

The earth maybe warming it has always gone threw temperature cycles. But I dont think that we are making that much difference as far as Carbon Dioxide goes.

Agreed. It seems many folks are too stubborn to change how they think, much less how they live. And some just won't listen. Too often, attempts at discussing the facts and logic of the situation fail, deteriorating into very negative feelings between parties, and insults flying back and forth. Without both sides keeping an open mind on the subject, we're doomed. How can we find the solution if we can't agree there's a problem to begin with?

Heard an interesting quote from Copenhagen the other day. It goes something like this:
"The planet runs on physics and biology,
not politics and spin".

Just thought I would share.
