Warms my heart to see guys like Gates and Branson, et al putting their money where their mouth is and putting in a chunk of dough to help out important causes. In Branson's case, he's pledging 100% of the profits from his Virgin enterprises to aid in the fight against global warming. That's an estimated $3 BILLION .. now that's what I call a philanthropist!

Still the sad thing is... the public really doesn't care. And without everyone co-operating, all the money in the world wouldn't do a thing. Well unless of course all that money went into paying off people to abandon their polluting habits.

It's still a great gesture though. It makes me happy to see billions of dollars going to good causes.

Unfortunately, you make a very valid point.. the average person is too ME oriented to really give a hoot about the environment... sad to say alot of that money will have to be spent educating people.

100% of profits! :o - That's pretty much the first i've heard of anyone giving 100% profits to anyone (that is - not charities lol).

Great to hear it! Global warming really is a serious issue, and some people out there just seem to be in denial about it, or simply don't have the right knowledge.

It took me a while to find this, but check this video out!!!!!!!!!

I think that speaks for itself - Disgusting corporate evil workings are afoot.

The video does have a point though, without CO2, plants would die, resulting in the end of life as we know it
Ofcourse, but SURELY you can see where I'm coming from!

The video is suggesting that global warming is not caused by CO2 basically, CO2 is a BAD thing at the moment, it doesn't mean life at this point in time, it means death!

I can understand having that video on say 100 years ago, or if the global warming crisis is overcome perhaps, but definately not now...

True (starting with me, of course), but the poorest of the poor and their children may not have a world worth living in unless the global warming issue is addressed first.

Believe me I don't.. in fact, besides the global warming issue, I'm always skeptical about philanthropic motives as well. That said, I do believe global warming is an issue that needs to be addressed. For those of us that have been around long enough to remember, things certainly have changed since I was a kid.

There are alot of charities attempting to address the needs of the poor.. I applaud Branson's interest in this area.
