I just tried to purchase my first 2 .us domains, but had to confirm an agreement that I had some tie with the states.

The only option I saw that would be applicable was:

"A foreign organisation that regularly engages in lawful activities blah blah" so I guess its this option I need? (even though Im not offically registered as a UK company yet ?)

Hi Ms Domainer,

I ended up buying the 2 domains I wanted, both $10 (ยฃ8) hand reg's, so not too much to lose if something goes wrong. they are also at a US register too, if that makes any difference.

Hopefully the problem with video.us was old/invalid contact details?

It's not a question of outdated/old information, It's a question of valid registration
there are some registrars that will act as your required presence.

- if for some reason it's checked,
you may lose the domain, and they do check:

The info should always be current and verifiable, if you really want to keep
the domains and be sure no one can take them, put the correct info ;)

Thanks for that ms_chiff,

I will look for a registrar that will act as my required presence in the future.

I guess for these 2 domains I'll just wait and see, then perhaps transfer them over to a new registrar.

Just saying and without wanting to guarantee you won't lose your domain, but restrictions on .us are not that often enforced. I know plenty of EU based folks who own a .us domain, either using some random address in the States or sometimes even using their real European address. The restriction is there in theory but it seems it is rarely enforced unless someone would really notify the registry of your "breach of the rules".
