I've been with eNom through thick and thin from nearly their beginning, and have spend well over $1 million over the years. After some tech issues they refused to fix a few years ago, I move many of my domains to another registrar, but left 1,500 domains at eNom.

Today I received an email from them saying that all accounts will have to continuously spend $100,000 with them per year to get stay in the better pricing classification AND that I will be dropped to one of their highest pricing categories in 30 days!

It's like someone took a class on how to do great business and retain customers, and they have chosen to do the EXACT OPPOSITE.

Time to start collecting those auth codes and putting those xfer requests in.... BYE ENOM!

Me neither. I haven't yet received that email though. Maybe because I don't have any domains there :)

I stopped using them when they refused to send an TDRP for a stolen domain. They instead refunded my small amount of costs instead. Which was completely against their ToS at that time. It just goes to show, that when company's are run by shady characters, they just run rough shot over you. They said the way the previous owner stole the domain was a feature, not a bug. But shortly afterwards the closed that feature ;)

But this is an end of an ERA for eNom. No domainers are going to pay that much when you can get better than Platinum pricing at many registrars with better features. Good riddance to them. They are a scourge on domainers. Totally hopeless support, for years.

Your not alone, they will feel it!

They have provided poor service, an outdated platform.

Basically they are downgrading everyone from Platinum to Silver, I don't think they have a clue what they are doing.

So many choices, they are not even relevant.

    5 day hold on transfers.

Really what do they offer, that others don't.

Last time I opened a ticket with them it took 7 weeks before they responded. Tucows spent 83 million to buy Enom, but they apparently can't afford to employ a few customer support staff. A slowly sinking registrar...

They're better than Network Solutions though. So the lesser of two evils among the two main NJ registars.

I agree that NetSol are about the most unsecure registrar on the planet. Support quite of works though, in their due time. Both these 2 registrars should be on your no-fly list, though :)

Most NJ won domains go to either one of them though... So anyone regularly buying there ends up always having names with them. Can't be helped with the 60-day lock rule.

I got the same e-mail too.
MY ETP account is created in 2009. The reason I created an ETP account just because of better pricing in long term.
Now they just suddenly change their pricing scheme and they're telling me they will move my account into silver plan on 30 MAY 2018.

just got an email saying im going from platnum which i paid $700 to get into for $9.95 domains and now downgraded to silver at $13.95 per name. I asked for the $700 back still waiting for the reply. Whats the next best reg? I have about 200 names so this would be extra $800 a year for me...

Did they seriously do the numbers, and factor $13.50, and think people were going to pay this, and the revenues were going to go thru the roof. Whoever did these projections screwed up royally as the $1.50 they were probably making, is now going to be $0.

I actually started moving names out a month ago, been wanting to do it for sometime, but no bulk options. I hate the 5 day transfer out hold.

The best option is to find a best alternative to NameJet. It is because of NameJet, eNnom is adamnant and charging horrible subscriptions.

I like Dynadot. With a prepayment of $500(Bulk)/$5000(SuperBulk) you get bulk pricing for 1 year. You must maintain $500/$5000 spending in each rolling year. New .com registrations are $6.99 Transfers In are $8.75 (Bulk) and $8.50 (SuperBulk). Privacy is $2 for Bulk and Free for SuperBulk. This is a reliable and reputable registrar. Support has always been quick. Zero complaints about this registrar. My preferred Registrar.

i think im going with dynadot
enom replied 4 days (four days later) with...i realize 300 names doesnt mean whale but should be enough to stay in my range.

Thank you for reaching out to Enom support and being a valued reseller.

I do apologize for the price increase, it was not an easy thing for us as well. Due to the upcoming GDRP changes, we must adapt to stay competitive in this industry.

There was a decision made to streamline the pricing plans at Enom so that our resellers were placed in tiers based on their volume and growth. This was done in an effort to be transparent and consistent with our pricing for all our resellers.

Another reason was based on the increasing costs of running a reseller registrar business over the last few years. With the upcoming launch of the new GDPR requirements, this has put a lot of additional man-hours and costs into preparing for this industry-changing policy. We are dedicated to making this transition as smooth as possible for our resellers and are spending a lot of time and resources to ensure so.

We are also in the process of building out a new platform and API for our resellers that will bring even more functionality and capabilities to our resellers. We are doing so to maintain a strong and robust API and reseller platform.

This was not an easy decision to make and the consequences of such were weighed very heavily, however, this is the path we decided was the best for the future growth of our business and reseller base.

The silver plan still offers a very competitive pricing bracket as well. I do apologize, but this decision was also based on domain volume. For any concerns please let us know, we value our reseller relationship

Please feel free to reach out to us again if further assistance is required. :)
    Best regards,

..I paid $700 for the reseller plan pricing....shouldnt I get some of that back since they are downgrading me? Thats a buy it...it doesnt go towards your reg fee.

Well I eventually got the email. They are keeping me at Platinum, and I haven't bought anything there for years. Go figure how good their analysis of usage was :) Did somebody else observe, their business model sucks. Bye eNom :)

I'm disappointed with enom (and their new ownerTucows) for this short notice and huge increase in pricing so I'll be transferring out all our names. I've also had massive problems with other registrars such as Moniker and Fabulous which I won't be using again. NameBright looks like a viable option. Anyone using them?
