Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

Dynadot is an ICANN accredited domain name registrar and web host headquartered in San Mateo, California. Hi everyone! And @Caleb Tweed

Please excuse me if this has already been explained (I couldn't find it through the search):

I needed a checkout link, and decided to try Dynadot Pay for the first time. After generating it, I checked and it was working well. But I noticed that the domain in question was UNLOCKED, which happened without any notice. I locked it again, and then tried the Pay link once more. This time it didn't work.

So I guess this is the standard for your Pay link service, but why?

It seems unsafe to keep a domain unlocked in order to use the Pay link, am I wrong? And there was no warning, either.

I feel comfortable using Dynadot, and I am not complaining, just asking. Thanks in advance for your attention to this doubt!

It seems when I select DD For Sale page, I have to first unlock my account, make various selections, then the system re-locks the domain/account. Are you unlocking the account before trying to make changes? Mine required unlock to use DD Sale page.
Yes, it's normal. I take it is an extra security layer to prevent your domains to be put for sale by someone else when your account is compromised.

Although I've interacted with the head man about this, nothing has changed.

Nothing from tech support. I'm fully signed in and I've tried multiple browsers and shut off all virus protection (really do not like doing this for any reason).

I'm sorry to say, but names have to start being moved away.

Before you make such a big change, have you tried creating a separate account and pushing a few domains to it, then trying to modify them from there instead?

Sometimes a bug in the backend can "corrupt" a user profile and even their programmers will have difficulty tracing the problem (if you can even get them to look at it in the first place).

A similar problem occurred for me on Porkbun. I gave up trying to get the tech support to fix the issue and took matters into my own hands. Thankfully I could still push names, so creating a new account and transferring all the domains fixed the problems.

Thanks for your response and advice.

TBH, if they (tech) can't fix the issue, it would worry me leaving names there.

I've got names and accounts with the major players and it looks like Spaceship offers the best transfer deal. I know I'll likely never get another rep as good as Caleb, but it is ridiculous to not even get a response from tech support considering the issue.

Does anyone know how the 30 day buy lock on Dynadot can be removed?

It's a weird type of lock where not only you can't transfer a domain outside of a registrar but cannot even push it within Dynadot registrar.

I have never encountered anything like that with any other registrar. Some have a transfer out lock but definitely NOT a push.. that's a bit extreme.

For a domainer that flips names continuously having a valuable name that just sits in the account without the possibility of putting it for sale for 1 entire month is really absurd.

Anyone know how to get this solved?

Maybe it has to do with your preset SignIn duration? It's in Advanced Settings, and it's short by default, but you can change it in the drop-down menu.
No it's a weird policy of Dynadot. In many years of domaining I've never seen anything like that before.

Dynadot marketplace is increasingly being used as sort of an escrow service to purchase names as it appears to have a low selling commission for the seller.

But the fact that, for the buyer, the name is in a lock status for transfer (and especially for PUSH) is crazy to me.

I hope I'm wrong or I'm not understanding something but this is definitely a kill for domainers and a reason to avoid Dynadot pay link as escrow service or to buy names to flip in general

I hope this lock can be turned off in some way if I explain I have a buyer for the name

Caleb is away for the next 4 days or so. I'd suggest hitting up Support so you get a faster response. Failing that, PM me and I'll give you another email address to try (I don't feel comfortable posting it here without permission).

Thanks so much. Tried to reach him out. Do you know if they can manually unlift the lock or have done it before? Thanks so much again mate

He said he probably won't be checking email while he's away. Sorry, I'm not sure about the lock.

It looks like it's a Buy Lock and apparently is standard practice for them. Not sure if they can manually lift it, perhaps if you have a good trading history with them?

Tried to reach out to that email. Thanks again
Hopefully it can be lifted.. 1 month is really a lot of time and makes it inconvenient to use Dynadot as escrow

I'm not sure when it happened, but sometime in the last 10 hours the issue was resolved.

Considering the situation, my exchanges were friendly and professional until I had to mention ICANN.

No one notified me regarding what was wrong or when it was fixed...there has NEVER been a response to the tech support ticket created by customer service and updated several times by me.

Communication is ESSENTIAL when it comes to an entity that has ultimate control over an extensive investment. Concerning Dynadot, I no longer have the warm and fuzzy feeling I used to.

Hi Alex @Dynadot!

I have the following doubt, and would very much appreciate it if you could kindly look into it:

Another handy new feature just added to Dynadot - the ability to bulk update your domains with proper text case.

This should make your names easier to read in the menu, and more importantly, in the Dynadot marketplace.

Are you still receiving an error when attempting to log in to your account?
