Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

So Dynadot superbulk tier starts for $5K spend, what about $50K spend, or $100K spend, why not create higher tiers?

They will be paying you to reg names.

Hello, just wanted to say I hear your comments on the Paypal change, just waiting for some confirmation on a few things before I posted anything "Official". (being away for two weeks leaves you a playing catch-up for a bit). Should have something for you tomorrow or the next day!

Patiently waiting for your post.

We all know it is not you causing the problems we are now having...I just want to say for the record my displeasure and posts are not directed at you personally.

I'll wait until the end of today before filing my formal complaint with PayPal to give you a chance to get a response from the powers that be.

Hey Everyone,

Thanks for your patience while we get everything sorted. Hopefully this answers your questions below:

In short, we decided to add this increased fee to our PayPal payments due to PayPal's high vendor fees. PayPal's vendor fee is usually more than double any of the other payment methods we accept, thus making it difficult to continue offering the best prices we can.

Where we do save money on payment methods, we do like to pass it on right to the customer. We currently offer a bonus credit on any prepay made with Bank Wire exceeding $10k. (details at the bottom of our prepay page here) https://www.dynadot.com/prepay

We've certainly heard your feedback, and have decided to act on it. We will be removing the additional Paypal fee, active after our next server restart tonight. We will explore other options down the road for account credit bonuses and incentivization. If you paid with PayPal and incurred the 2.5% fee after the change, please contact [email protected] with your order number and our team can remove the fee and credit your account.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

Cheers,
Caleb

Thanks Caleb for the update and info.

By many accounts I am a small fish in the domaining sea, but your post came just minutes before I started to move my first 100+ block of names. I will now renew them at Dynadot.

They need to give you a little bonus for dealing with this after a relaxing vacation.

no credit to dyna. only disgrace because it takes multiple public bash posts from clients for dyna to solve a fee hike based on nothing but greed. a problem which a good company would have not created to begin with

i suggest u keep moving your names away

its only mattr of time before more bad decisions made by dyna

that expired parking evil bullshit is still unsolved too

Valid point.

I'm giving a little extra time on this issue as the fee problem is one that can/could be solved with minimal changes.

Oddly enough, not all names that get switched to Bodis (taken from my account and added to Dyna) stay at Dyna when renewed. A couple reverted back to my account.

On reflection, this may be due to the early stage of changes...I will update once I have more.

I hear ya but we are not using the best with dyna. justa top10..and we deserve and need the best. ui and prices etc dyna is not the best.

sav had it bad for bugs but worked out now. they have best avg prices and best ui.

porkbun and spaceship are close 2nd.

honestly there is no reason on planet not to use one of those 3. u are shooting your foot if u do.

some bs bulk com prices on dyna.. io at 50... wtf ... I see dyna desperate .. strictly for prices they are like 30th... the ui stinks.

I have 40us credit left there and 100 names. then I'm gone sav.

I dontneed to wake up to paypal hike of 2.5 overnite or emailing bodis to beg for my names to go back to me everytime I renew. this is bs

Because of this I'm adding Spaceship to registrars I will be using in the future.

I really like the Dyna interface (took a while to get used to it) but I'm confident Spaceship would have a friendly interface as well.

Moving from Dynadot to Sav seems crazy. Their website is often buggy domains you no longer own stuck in your list, sometimes you have to login via a "legacy login" link to use website functionality. Limited auctions(60 days) and no BIN visibility. And earlier this year they were banning people for possibly sketchy reasons and holding the domains.

Spaceship is a much needed update for Namecheap but it's still a Namecheap company and eventually those cheap prices are going to rise and you'll be moving again. I moved a lot of Sav and Epik names to Spaceship and they are doing well. But I won't be moving my domains away from Dynadot just to save $1. It costs me more than that to copy and paste an EPP code and type in my CVV code for my credit card.

I agree with you except your last sentence. Saving $1 per name is surely worth some cut and paste, especially for large folios.

That said, there have been some terrible reviews over at Sav (although I've been happy with them), but their response during that period where they closed accounts was suboptimal. About 25% of my folio is with them, but I won't increase that percentage based on what happened (unless the CEO actually steps up and talks about it and assuages our concerns). One thing I like about Dyna is Todd's willingness to step in when needed. Richard at Namecheap does the same. Sav's CEO is nowhere to be found. That is not acceptable imo

I just sold the domain on Dynadot's lander. I actually pointed the client precisely to buy it from Dynadot (he contacted me before about the price he found on GD, and we negotiated a bit).

Anyways, the purchase happened on Dynadot nearly 24h ago (full working day both in US and in Europe). The client setup the site on it in less than 2h after the purchase notification to both of us.

However, in Dynadot ''Sold'' statement it is indicated that '' The domain has been moved to the buyer’s account. Your Dynadot account will be credited ... for this sale once the processing period is over. This may take anywhere from 5-7 days''.

Why does it take so long? What kind of ''processing'' is this? If clients got a name you got the money, there is no single doubt about that. Should be one, max two days to deliver it to the Dynadot client's account.

I work a lot with international bank wires on my other business and nowadays even ''transatlantic'' US/EU/Asia wires take one, absolute max two working days. Most of the time it's the same day. It is also pretty clear that Dynadot is not using two unrelated banks (if at all!) between receiving funds and keeping them on client's accounts.

So, what's going on with the amount during that week span? Dynadot is either operating from North Korea or Somali, or simply uses clients money to push to some savings account, making more on client's expense (just guess, because I can't explain a 5-7 days delay).

Order number: 16893277 (if of any interest).

Thanks.

5 days to get paid isn't unreasonable. In the US many service providers work on a Net 30 day receivables schedule. Even credit cards allow you to pay monthly. Could Dynadot process sooner, sure. But complaining over 3 days (you want 2, they do 5) seems like the nitpick of the week

So the processing period is just for us to run our fraud checks on the payment/account. Sometimes we need to have extra verification if the order indicates potential fraud, and that can take a bit of time to verify. That 5-7 day window just allows us an extra bumper to get these verifications completed if the buyer is unresponsive.

However, I will say for the past year+ or so that we've bumped up our processing times significantly when we can, and if everything checks out okay on our end we've been completing these much sooner (usually in the 2-3 day range).

If you have one you think has been processing for an unusually long amount of time, please DM me the order number and I can look into it (the one posted as been completed for a while).

The key issue for me isn’t that it takes 5 days (and like I do consider it a huge amount of time - no), but the discrepancy between the actual sale process (just 2 hours after I saw already the site) and the extended paid timeframe (up to a week). I believe this misalignment is not justified at all.

Thanks for the reply, Kaleb. As I already replied to one of the comments, my issue is not just that I went crazy over 5 days of waiting, but rather that the sale happened superfast, but the payout looks unproportionally long, compared to it (also, we are not even talking about an actual payout, but simple money landing on Dynadot's account).

I assumed all the fraud checks happen before buyer hangs something to his name already (which, again, happened in 2 hours).

But I agree it's better now, than a year ago.

So sometimes if a bunch of flags go off in our system it will require approval before it gets pushed into the users account, but for the most part we like to have the domain delivered instantly when we can (and the fraud is usually pretty low so cancellations after that are fairly rare), but I see your point. To have it require approval for every User listing might slow the system and sale process down quite a bit but I'll see if we can work out a compromise for it.
