Hi all!

We’ve created this thread to make it easier to communicate with us here on Namepros, and we’ll also be posting regular updates on our offers and products. Please feel free to share any feedback and suggestions with us, or to let us know if there’s anything we can assist with.

We’d like to kick things off with an extension of our $7.99 .COM transfer sale, the code “COMTRANS4” has been extended until 23:59 PST on May 31, and there’s no limit on how many domains you can transfer using the code. Every month we have great prices on a wide selection of domains, and you can find a full list of our sales here:

https://www.dynadot.com/sales.html

We’re also excited to share that our CEO, Todd Han, will be hosting an AMA (Ask Me Anything) right here on Namepros in the near future, with more information on a date and time coming soon.

Dynadot is an ICANN accredited domain name registrar and web host headquartered in San Mateo, California. The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
GoDaddyGoDaddy
Can you please let me know which is correct?
The minimum registration term allowed for a .ai domain is 2 years for registration and 2 years for renewal (independent of registrar).

That is what I thought. But the Dynadot rep told me it would be a 1 year registration. Further, he said I would be paying $140+$79.99 and would only receive 1 year. I didn't bid on the name I wanted because of what appears to be mis-information provided by Dynadot's CS. Frustrating.

@Caleb Tweed I asked one of your CS reps what would happen if I was the only bidder for a name in your .ai auction. How much would I pay? His response;

Show attachment 262073

Yet, someone on Twitter told me this is incorrect and I would've only paid $140 (same as if I hand regged it) and had the name for 2 years.

Can you please let me know which is correct?
So it looks like the CS agent was a bit off. (I believe the agent was getting the Registry auctions mixed with our regular expired auctions which do have the yearly cost of renewal added on)

The renewal is included for two years in your bid already. Ergo, if you were the only bidder for an .AI auction you'd only pay $140.

Please DM me the transcript and I will have our team address this. Sorry for the mishap there!

Yes, I learned this just a little too late for the auctions that ended yesterday. Shame that. Nevertheless, appreciate you re-training the CS staff so they can get it right for the next potential bidder who is looking for info like I was. From a newbie's perspective, the auctions page is unclear. It shows a $79.99 renewal next to the min bid of $140. I think it would be helpful to include one of (i) the total amount to be paid if the bid is won, or (ii) explain the renewal fee shown is for year #3. Which brings up the point that even option (ii) misleads since one cannot buy a one year .ai reg. My point is, most of NP and Dyna are very close to this stuff and understand it - but to newbie's to the .ai auctions, the page is not clear.

I’m a big fan of Dynadot, but the increased number of ads on the main page have started to really degrade the user experience. It would be great if there were a way to disable the prompts for Domain Match (I have 1500 domains, I don’t need to know if the XXX.construction gTLD is available for each one). It feels more like something GD would do than what I’m used to from Dynadot.

You can actually toggle off some of the things on the Account summary like the Domain Match and Hot Auctions just by hitting the 'Options' button!

Thanks, I should have asked first if this was possible!

Just .COM at the moment sorry! But I'll put in a word that there's an interest in those.

I always thought that Dynadot enforced a 60-day transfer lock on .com names that were recently transferred in. But according to their own help files, this does not seem to be the case:

"We can confirm that Dynadot doesn’t place locks on new registrations or incoming transfers—it’s not a policy that we’ve adopted or implemented ourselves. We also don’t add a 60-day lock when there’s a change of registrant (i.e. when the registrant’s name, organization, email, etc. is updated) so long as the opt-out is selected prior to the change. Although we don’t impose these locks, central registries may enforce them under their policies."

Has someone tried to transfer a domain away from Dynadot that was transferred to them within 60 days?

my disappointment with dyna new pricings for tlds that matter most to me.. com io co... remains.

I'm giving sav a last chance with fixing their major bugs. so far so good. unfortunately due to pricings dyna will not be my 1st choice if I have to leave sav... porkbun or shuttle space I may try.

at this moment dyna doesnt even make top 20 for prices. they have totally lost track of what matters most.. prices.

I transferred a domain out of Dynadot that was pushed to me (not auth code transferred). The transfer happened within minutes of the push. I realize this may not answer your question... but thought it was helpful info to post for some

As far as I know the only lock imposed is for domains won at expired auctions. Any names transferred in can be moved again any time I believe.
