Dynadot changed their steps for Domain Push. Looks Bad...

I just sold a domain reg. with Dynadot.com and going to push it to the owner. After login my account and chose the domain then Press the "Change Account" button, it asks for "Recipient Forum Name", instead of the receipt's id and email address as used to be.

Then I find the same on Dynadot support center How do I initiate a Change Ownership request? (domain push)

Don't know when and why dynadot makes this change, but this looks very bad, or even stupid, in my view.

1st, many dynadot members never go to their forum, and hard to remenber what are their Forum Names...

2nd, their system can check the ID / email are match or not to avoid pushing to wrong account. But now only ask for a "Forum Name" without any checking step, it makes easy to push domains to wrong account because of most memnbers are NOT familiar with thier Forum Names.

Many Dynadot wants to use to force members visit its Forum (which is a dead forum in fact), but I just feel bad on this and believe this will even PUSH some members leave dynadot :bingo:

That's not good news indeed, I stopped using DD a long time back, their customer service is atrocious at best, and their so called "forum" just plain sucks. I still have two domains there which I need to relocate soon!.

Thanks for this informative thread.
There is this FAQ on their site:

To find your forum name, follow these steps:

1. Log into your Dynadot account.
2. Look for the "Forum Name" field in the "Account Info" box.

Yeah, the forum user name is under your profile. It threw me at first too and I had to ask my buyer to send me their forum username.

Dynadot is trying to improve their customer service and I am in the process of moving almost all of our domains to them. The main reason is we now qualify for their "super bulk" pricing. They have also assigned us with a sales rep and she indicated they know they need to do better and are serious about making customers happy. I've been moving domains from Godaddy, Name.com, Domainsite.com, and, Namecheap.com. Except for Godaddy it's mostly a cost issue, but none of the others assigned a rep to us but Godaddy. And Godaddy took away our rep when we had less than 500 domains in our account. Not a good move on their part, now we have about 10 domains with them. :)

I believe they claim this is move was put in place for a more "secure" push!

also even if you don't know your forum name,
it is right there when you log-in under MY ACCOUNT.

I have send them many emails asking them to remove account email requirement for domain push. I don't want to give my account email to a stranger. I even showed them many examples of Godaddy accounts being hacked because Godaddy does the exact same thing. They require you to give away your account email information to a stranger. This is very stupid.

However I didn't tell Dynadot to use the forum name. This is also a bad choice. The best thing would be to generate a 10 digit random account recipient number. You should be able to click a button and generate a new number whenever you want. Because those random numbers would never be close to each other there would be no chance the domain going to the wrong account.

I will contact them again. The problem with them is that it is very difficult to get through to the right person.

To be fair to them they changed their navigation menu when I complained it was worse than Godaddy's. If you want them to change anything just tell them they are worse then Godaddy.
