.tv Don't forget WHY you bought your .TV virtual property

I think many of us on this forum are in TV for the long-run, and many are lining themselves up to be the 'instigators' of a new internet TV world. If you are one of those people, good on you for working to make these individual dreams come true.

To those with a dream of making something of their virtual property - enjoy every moment - these are the days that we will all remember when we are old and grey.

To those with a fear - forget it. Fear is just another excuse for not doing the things you always hoped you could.

To those with commitments - keep them.

To those who bought a TV name because they had a great idea - DON'T forget that idea!

Many set off to go from A to Z.
Sadly, by the time they have got to D or E or F, they have forgot why they set off on the journey or know how to carry on. All they see is D or E or F - and it is miles away from where they were happy or where they want to be.

Remember, remember - remember what your dream was in the first place - and why you should continue.

And if you can't remember, or have NO recollection of what brought you here in the first place - move on, and do it quick!

Given the experience of the last year, it probably makes sense to limit the number of sites one tries to develop simultaneously - at least on your own. It takes considerable effort to gain Google's attention and spreading your efforts among too many sites means none of them rank well. Regardless, because of the dynamics of finding domains worth development in the different extensions, I have more .TV sites than sites in all other TLDs combined with only one .COM minisite.

Most people in this forum buy purely for speculation, because they are domainers. The talk about development was iniitially the minority and only grew because of all the names that turned out to be near unsellable. Enjoy the reinvigorated market but don't forget the lessons of the past.

MORE ideas than time! I'm going to prioritize which TVs I can sacrifice

But I have to admit.. I'm going to try and live my life according to your posts.

Life is not a race. If you're going to run, run to your dreams. But don't run before you can walk. Don't worry about walking until you can stand. Don't let falling over discourage you. And most importantly don't let anyone hold you down or tell you the finish line is too far.

I love your enthusiasm for motivation. :kickass:

Domains TV managed to prove that is domains for TV.
It could not make .info and .biz.
Name TV is familiar to all since the childhood.

We all know development is not his forte, and he can afford not to develop. For .tvers it's tougher.

Most people that make money is this business in any extension including .tv make there money by not developing. I am not saying developing is not good, but personally for me, my time is better spent on not developing and it's allowed me to do well.

I love when people develop sites and make a success of it. It's just not my thing, nor my passion. I have done 3 developed sites since 1998, and it was hard work, and I got into this business to be lazy:)

Thanks, Jim

I don't think the same can be said of domainers generally in all extensions. The way in which most .tv domainers went from talking about domaining to talk of development was largely because the names turned out to have no value. Some domainers in all sorts of areas are similar but not to the degree of .tv (and .mobi) where most people still posting seemed to make that change. Of couse all the talk about development resulted in basically nothing happening aside from a few lousy adsense type pages.

Regarding Rick Schwartz I've never seen him claim to be a developer.

---------- Post added at 05:40 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:34 PM ----------

my point is development is not most domainers forte. also that rick is now a .tv'er. i've known rick for 5 years and his argument against .tv was always the premium structure. on many occasions he said that he likes .tv as a domain, thinks it has a lot of potential. he has spoken especially high of GEO's! thats pure geo's, like yourcity.tv.

Sounds completely logical to me (though I disagree on the geo stuff, did he really say that about geo .tv's?).

where i diverge from snoop is that he seems to want to make this only apply to .tv and its clear that it applys to every tld, even the lofty .com. lame development is just that no matter what the domain.

I'm saying in .tv and other weak tlds it was far more common. It is basically bad name syndrome. Name is worthless, therefore development is is seen as a good option. It makes not sense to me.

... and his argument against .tv was always the premium structure.

That's one person's opinion of an (sole) argument against the .TV ... I know of many others, including myself, that can name SEVERAL arguments and opinions against the ccTLD. In other words, just because of the "new pricing structure" and ensuing auction hype and chatter ... there are still several key (including many of the same issues from years ago) hurdles facing the .TV, IMHO. :guilty:

i think i'm in agreement with snoops on the value of so-called "development". if it worked then you wouldnt see so many domainers desperately trying to sell. i get a real kick when i see posts that say "if i dont get a buyer soon i'm going to develop". what a power statement.

That, and the old standby; "otherwise back in to the vault" ... ^ agreed! :yell: :imho:

However;
For those seeking good, relevant .TV domains for their unique development wishes and needs; I think, at times, it could prove fun / fruitful from its niche perspective! :music:
IMHO.

Best wishes,
Jeff B-)
