This thread is to share domains you've Won at Auction or Bought at Closeout

Closeout = After auction but before completely dropping from registrar and before going into redemption.

I *HIGHLY* suggest to post only after the domain is transferred *INTO* your account!

Go here if it's a domain you bought that was available at anytime for "hand registration": Your Reg of the Day
Go here if it's a domain you snapped / "drop-catched" after "Pending Delete": Your Snap of the Day

Feel free to disguise the domain like Slash // dot // com or any o|t|h|e|r w a y you want.
IMPORTANT: *If* someone does disguise their name, please respect them by quoting them directly, or copy/paste them directly.

Things to optionally include (or just simply post the domain name):

  1. What you paid for the domain(s), or the price range, or no price info at all.
  2. Any information, reasons or hard data (traffic, CPC, etc) that lead you to buy the domain(s).
  3. Where (or who) you acquired the domain from.
  4. How many other bidders there were.
  5. Whether the domain was "expired" or not.
  6. Whether the domain was at "closeout" or not.
  7. The history of the domain.
  8. What you see the domain being used for.
  9. Who a potential buyer could be.
  10. Anything else you want to share .. these are just possible ideas not "rules" ;)

Yup - so do a few other businesses :)
It was a closeout if I remember correctly.

TryMyDeal // dot // com
- Amazing short call to action domain with lots of commercial value!

CompactUtilityVehicle // dot // com
- An exact generic category term in the car industry

DiscoverYourFire // dot // com
- Another great call to action domain for self improvement industry!

PlatinumIRA sounds good, very thoughtful. Hopefully a nice end user sale one day :)
PennyClover is creative. It's the kind of domain which deep meaning you ponder for a long time.

Yeah .. very happy with the IRA one.
As for PennyClover .. I grabbed it cause the two terms are related to luck (lucky penny .. 4 leaf clover). madd to that I saw a really nice usable logo of a 4 leaf clover on a coin.

A few nice ones:VAPE//RIZE // dot // com

Very nice brandable domain even with it actually being a typo .. fantastic buy if you got it cheap! :)

Sharbati // dot // com
- This is actually a type of rice .. but at the same time I think it sounds like an amazing brand. As all the most popular food, spices and plants are all being grabbed as actual brands, I'm very happy holding this one! :)

DietDinner // dot // com
- Obvious amazing diet / health food brand.

GlucoseGel // dot // com
- Generic name for an actual pharma product produced by multiple brands.

DietDinner is a nice catch. Very strong branding potential.

YoureOnTheAir // dot // com
- I'm still in shock I was able to grab this monster industry defining radio saying. Perfect for anything related to talk radio (the Internet still has tons of talk "radio" .. lol). It's the perfect example of the type of name that isn't always visually obvious when going through expiration lists and the very specific reason why I personally go through the lists myself. If you follow my daily lists of domains on auction and closeout this is a good example of the type of name I keep secret from the main list. So while it's great to check other people's lists .. and you certainly will find gems there .. there's nothing better than going through the lists yourself to mine for golden domains like this one! :)

GreenCarpeting // dot // com
- As the world gets more and more green, I think carpeting is one of those sleeper industries where going green can make a big difference.

GetThereForLess // dot // com
- Sure it's 4 words .. but they are short words and more importantly very specific and memorable. Tons of $$$$ in the travel industry and this one is very open ended in how it can be applied.

DietDinner is a nice catch. Very strong branding potential.
Thanks .. I'm quite happy with it.

CellularMD // dot // com
- I love this for a phone repair franchise .. brandably short .. yet exactly descriptive and to the point.

MusicAsAService
// dot // com
- Essentially this is what Spotify and all the other subscription based music streaming services are. I see this used more by a back end provider whose product is the actual platform for sharing music as opposed to actually selling music .. but it could be both! :)

UtilityBlade // dot // com
- Exact match of a very common tool

Zymma // dot // com
- Nice pronounceable 5L .. with bonus of finishing with MMA (Mixed Martial Arts .. UFC)

MetabolicMagic // dot // com
- Tons of sales online for metabolism boosting products. Nice alliteration with this one and the word magic really works here.

FundingChimp // dot // com
- Get your startup money here!

IronAcorn // dot // com
- Iron = Strength/Security .. Acorn = Growth

FareSurf // dot // com
- Nice brand name for travel price comparisons.

I like 5L or 6L domains with double O's in the middle, they are really easy to pronounce and remember.

LogFires // in king

Potential endusers on google / yahoo in the business of selling log fires / log burners etc

8 letter domain, 2 words

ATMs
Bought at typical .co closeout price. I think with alternative currency in sight, banks will get creative with our credit and debit cards and ATM prices will double for traditional folk.

I was so tired that at first glance, I thought it was a random vccc.co and it wasn’t until checkout that it dawned on me that it was an actual word.

Empanadas
Similar pricing and I noticed this one immediately. This one was not too far from ATMs and the two just hit my account 48hrs ago. Empanadas is a meat patty in Latin countries with .co being Columbia. In doing research, empanadas makers can be retro-fitted to make Caribbean patties, raviolis and pasta, Indian samosas, etc. naturally, I’m most excited about this one.

Kwanzaa
It was out of my comfort zone $$$ but I think The tradition will come back and be commercialized like Christmas. This one is a .net and is a keeper.

Invest Leap dot com
Lots of spam emails on this one but this one is also a keeper.

Leftfielders dot com
Surprising 😛

RealTalk
I’ve always been a fan of .tv domains. I sold Roman.tv via Netnames/afternic for $7k years ago and I think everyone is sleeping on the TLD. My next .tv in the pipeline blew my mind and I can’t wait for it to hit my account.

Vapyr // dot // com
Like this short 5L as an obvious brand for anything Vape as it sounds like vapor! :)

JuryOfYourPeers // dot // com
I really like this as a social feedback/review site. Plus it's obviously a legal term as well.

Kinematics // dot // org
A branch of Physics/Mechanics that deals with Motion.

@leftfielder .. some nice domains you grabbed there! Kwanzaa is still nice even in net. And your write up for Empanadas got me hungry! :)
Don't get too worked up with your next .tv .. I've had a couple of nice ones get clawed back .. hopefully it won't happen to you .. good luck! :)

@slader23 .. I definitely agree with you with the double O .. same as for double E .. I actually recently grabbed oojio in king! :)

@stewmath .. It's been absolutely freezing this winter so far up here in Montreal .. I'll grab 3 LogFires from your please! ;)

I guess some fax machine making company might be interested or any domainer who loves brandables :)

@Ategy.com what do you mean clawed back? The registrar changed their mind about your ownership because it was premium?

Just added some sweet .coms and here’s a sample:
Super//edible and Beard//Geeks

@Ategy.com Vapyr is a great find. (y)

EasyKeno // dot // com
FastKeno // dot // com

Keno is one of the most played casino / video poker games in the world. I'm quite happy to have grabbed this pair! :)

@Ategy.com what do you mean clawed back? The registrar changed their mind about your ownership because it was premium?
Not because it was premium .. but because the original owner renewed or transferred it before it got transferred into my account. This will happen less with some of the recent changes at GoDaddy .. but it most definitely will still be an ongoing frustration for domainers.

XIFAX // dot // com
I think the term what's new is old most certainly could work in this case. Look at the term "coin" .. it's been re-purposed and now is one of the strongest domain terms out there. On the same level I certainly do not see a resurgence in fax machines ... but I certainly do see a future tech that re-purposes the term "fax" into a term for some kind of document transfer .. might not be for a while though .. lol .. and not sure if Xi would be the best prefix .. but Xifax is still pretty cool looking as a 5L brandable! :)

DietDinner // dot // com
- Obvious amazing diet / health food brand.

You got that at closeout!? That is the best one I think I have seen you pick up.

CertifiedEasy // dot // com
I see this as a monster marketing name that could be used by a ton of potential businesses that want to market their product or service as easy to use.

EqualTotheTask // dot // com
I like this common saying for a skilled job recruitment site that focuses on skilled labour.

Hangover // dot // info
Grabbed this one because of the absolutely monster stats behind it!

You got that at closeout!? That is the best one I think I have seen you pick up.

Because of the large number of domains I share I try not too be too specific .. but a vast majority of the domains I've listed here have been at closeout or at auction with one or two bids .. essentially at a cost of $25 or less if you include renewal. As an exception I'll reveal that DietDinner does indeed fall into this range! ;)

ViralFocus // dot // com
Perfect name for social media agency who went to give the impression that using them will get their clients to go viral! :)

VetVille // dot // com
A no brainer alliteration domain for the very VERY profitable pet health industry

FullVenue // dot // com
The software that manages entertainment venues in terms of seating and ticketing is actually a really big industry. Lost of money helping clubs and concert halls stay organised. This is pretty much the perfect brand name for that! :)

Gingercrisp // dot // com
I totally love this one as a brand. Ginger is a great strong word and Ginger itself is a high level food. Add the Crisp and it's really sharp and memorable. Super ultra giant bonus is that it's actually a real thing. This is one of those names I feel like I just stole as nobody was paying attention! :)

CyclistForum // dot // com
I like forum names because I used to have a very large forum at the turn of the century .. it's actually what first brought me to domains .. I just wish I would have been more serious about domaining back then instead of waiting all this time! lol

eqono // dot // com
Nice short 5L variant of Econo .. really a no brainer if you can get names like this for cheap! ;)

•••
VendorWallet // dot // com
Obviously love this Crypto name. Not much will beat my PlatinumWallet domain .. but I certainly like this one a heck of a lot for a company that provides merchant services to companies who want to accept crypto in a similar way that they use merchant services companies to accept credit and debit card. 99% of Crypto names have no chance of selling .. I like my odds with this one! :)

AxialMultimedia // dot // com
A cool name in the hot Media namespace!

420SW // dot // com
5L + 420 (Cannabis) + SW (SouthWest) = Really nice domain

BeforeYouWake // dot // com
I was on the fence at first for this "Saying" domain, as I think these types of domains will be very strong in the future. But admittedly a lot of them are worthless with no real use. I almost thought the same of this one .. but then thought this could work for both the sleep and beauty industry .. as well as possibly scheduling / personal organisation. Point being I'm not exactly sure .. but felt the saying is well known enough and is open ended enough to be worth something to someone .. or at the very least certainly more than I paid for it! lol
