Hi Everyone.
Can someone explain to me exactly when a domain becomes available to register after expiration?
As far as I knew (I may be wrong), once a domain expires it enters the redemption period for 30 days. After that it may go on auction by the registrar. If not purchased at the auction it should be deleted and made available to register again.
Is the above the correct sequence?
I had my eye on a domain which had expired, and was on the GoDaddy auction. The auction closed without bidders 3 days ago (I think the starting price was a bit too high), but I just tried to register the domain and get the message that the domain is taken. I checked the WHOIS for the domain and it states that the domain is registered to Go Daddy Redemption Services.
Should the domain not have become available to register after the auction closed without any bidders? If not, how long does it take in this situation for the domain to become available to register again?
Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated
