Hello!
I have a domain expired on 15-Mar-2009. Domain is on redemption period. And now I want to transfer that domain to new registrar. But current registrar saying the next: The domain xxxxxxxxx.com was expired on 15-Mar-2009 and status is on [Redemption Grace Period] .
If you wish to proceed with the transfer, you must restore first. Because transfer is IMPOSSIBLE at the redemption grace period .
Please be informed that the restore price is 180USD
So, why do I need to pay money for restore, I guess transfer should be denied when PendingDelete period, but not redemption? Any help appreciated.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
A .com domain name can only be transferred among registrars if it's still active
and, preferably, paid for. It won't happen if it's deleted and in RGP, and it has
been that way for the past few years.

Unfortunately if you want the domain name badly, then paying the redemption
fee is the way to go. You have 30 days from the last updated date to decide,
after which it'll hit the point of no return.

You could wait for it to become available, but you also risk others grabbing it
before you do.
