DIRECTI Redemption Period

I have waited the domain had expired on the first of Sep. Now its Nov and the domain is still in redemption period. I am convinced that no one wants the domain which is practically worth less than reg fee (more than 10L and mixed letters) but I wanted it for a purpose(already reg and related to a niche I want).

I thought redemption period is just one month and will become available again?
Any answers on this folks?

A friendly bump as I am also looking at a domain that has been expired and in the redemption period for WELL OVER 45 days (mine is with another registrar but am hoping an answer to wussadotcom's question might be relevant to my situation).


Update:
Just came across this post ( http://www.namepros.com/2501787-post3.html ) by Earthian in another thread which said,

for 30 days after expiration the domain is in the Registrar Redemption Period (status in WHOIS usually shows as the domain expires next year)

for the next 30 days the domain is in the Registry Redemption Period (status in WHOIS shows as Redemption Period)

for the 5 days after that the domain is in the Pending Delete Period (status in WHOIS shows as Pending Delete)

after that it becomes Available to register (usually drops are around 14:00 EST) ... of course with all the drop-catching companies , tasters and domainers looking for expired domains ... catching a domain at drop is rather difficult to say the least ...

Yes, it does take way too long to actually get a Domain Name deleted... I guess the registries should do something about making this process faster....

Well about the domain I wanted it was caught by snap and sent to auction. lol.. :p

snapnames and godaddy can snap your domain if you do a search by them
