Domain appraisal question?

from what i've been reading, its good when google returns a lot of results for a search term why is that?

ie if you appraise xyz.com and you search for xyz and there are a lot of results why is that a good thing?

Generally it is thought a domain with a popular keyword in it will rank higher than other sites about the same topic without the keyword in them.

Also, if a lot of people are looking for xyz, xyz.com has a good change at being a popular source for xyz.

Makes sense because the term in question is very popular so more chances there will be a lot of potential buyers for the domain as opposed to a less popular term.

Be sure the entire keyword search at Google (e.g. for a domain like FreeGames.com, search for "free games" with quotes.).
